No way I can make this event. Anniversary, trip to NY for a bills game and the body swap are eating up my $$$.

I'm tentatively out, think i got suckered in to driving to PA picking up a camper with my friend and driving it back here

Im out too....:-( really wish i could make this one, had something come up though. Hope everyone gets to see the LIGHTS!!!!

OK, Post 23 has the most up to date list of who's going. Put your name up if you're going...

Current plan is to head out of the Triangle area around 6-7am Friday, and get to Mortimer group camp around 10-11am. If anyone gets there earlier, please grab the campsite...

We'll setup, and tentative on the weather we'll either hit the OHV trails, or maybe check out a waterfall or hiking trail. We can make that decision once we get there.

If, by chance the group camp is taken, Plan B is to stay at Brown Mountain OHV campsites.

If you're going, make sure you're on the list, and we'll exchange phone numbers, just in case Plan B turns into C or D...

Guys, as of right now it looks like we wont be able to leave raleigh till around 4PM Friday. Will someone please save us a site and keep us posted if plans change as to the campsite location.

Thanks

I MIGHT be able to do that for ya' :hhmm:

Do we have provisions for firewood? Anybody going have any on hand, or shall we try and buy some up there? Low of 33 both night.... mmmm, Fall!!

I was noticing that also, but clear skies! Possibly see some of the Milky Way like we did two years ago. Jupiter is also pretty durn bright right now... We're going to see the lights this year...

Unless someone knows of something easy to get, we can just pick some up on the way in... I keep meaning to pick up a cord or two for this exact reason...

Will be putting the tent heater into service this weekend!

Well if someone wants to come out towards my office in Briercreek, my boss loaded the bed of his F250 last friday from a house down from our office (they chop wood) for $7. I dont have time or room to make it happen but will give out information if someone wants to pick up some.

Final Trip Specifics

All,

Campsite: Mortimer (showers and toilets), first come first serve, $10 a site per night. Some of the sites are nice an enclosed in trees and rhododendron, but I've heard there is a open area group camp, but didn't see it on any of the websites. Plan is to arrive early, get our spots and set up.

Friday: Keefer's plan on leaving early 6-8am sometime, flexible if others (Joe, Ramon) want to join the caravan. Who's leaving when. Would we meet up with Stefan on the way? Brett and Stefan, when are you leaving?

Multiple options for what we do on Friday and we can get the collective opinion on driving some trails, hiking some trails, or just relaxing.

No dinner plans for Friday, may try and grab something out. I've heard of a small little place that we could check out. Greg will arrive later Friday night. I say we try and check out the Lights both nights...

Saturday: Everyone should be present, Events are also up to the group, but we have lots of options. Dinner, any ideas for the potluck theme?

Sunday: Those that want to go up into Blowing Rock area can join us, or leave at their leisure.

Comments from all attendees.....

Sounds like a plan, I am working on trying to get out early but with this being my last two weeks I am not sure I want to press any buttons.

We will be game for that plan. Not sure how early we'll be rolling out though - going to a Trampled by Turtles show in Carborro Thursday night :)
