Right now, January 21st at 7:20 p.m. it is snowing in Tucson. We have a good inch on the ground at my house and all over the cruiser.

Unfortunately I leave for work at 5a.m. and unless it continues to snow throughout the day, I will not get to enjoy this. I will, however, find out in the a.m. how my Aussie locked rear handles on snow covered pavement.

In was out in Vail (AZ, not CO):) when it started snowing yesterday afternoon. I was in the Ford Fusion, as the LC is still not back together. There was already about 2 inches when I headed back to the NW side. The all wheel drive seemed to handle the slick roads pretty well.

Did you get to test drive the Aussie in snow? How was it?

Alvin told me he didn't feel anything bad. He said he took the corners slower than usually, but otherwise barreled down the road at 50. He made it over the bridges just before they closed them due to ice.

I had to fly out to Wisconsin early Monday morning. Had no trouble getting to the airport, but all the flights out of Tucson were cancelled dur to icing problems, and the lack of de-icing fluid/equipment in Tucson.

I did get a couple good shots of the 40 in the snow.

87n to Payson was closed at the Saguaro lake turn off this afternoon unless you had 4WD.

We were stuck up in Pine on the opposite end....it was a "no go" even with 4X4, according to the trooper sitting at a baricade on 87. We got down to the valley on Sunday night after several attempts on 87.
We got the majority of the snow shown in the pics over night. Had a great time though, pulled (2) Dodge trucks (1 4x4 1 2x4)outa the ditch going up the hill to the cabin on saturday. Broke both straps I had though....
I was really impressed with the new 06 pictured, even with street tires it climbed in the snow like a champ.

8" in oracle, would have been a challenging day to run the gap!
I got to stay home, I could'nt get into my company truck, the doors were frozen shut, what a bummer.

So the next morn I was bookin into work at 5am and the roads were iced over. I was doing 50 mph with no trouble. I did slow down some going thru corners just in case. I never noticed the Aussie making any noise and I never got loose or sideways. I think having the Aussie in the rear of a fulltime rig with a long wheelbase is OK. Right after I got to work the popo shut down pretty much every bridge in Tucson for about 3-4 hours.

Ten inches new snow today according to the weatherman, I can't wait to get up again this weekend. These Pictures are from a week and a half ago. Maybe this weekend I can see how the traction control works on the forest service roads:)

On the same night we got almost 2" in Prescott Valley. 2" of snow is very rare here. That is unheard of in the past ten years. It must be the warming that we hear about!
Our climate in Prescott Valley is only a bit cooler than Tucson. When we get snow that sticks it is after dark and ends by 9. It melts by morning, causing iced windows on trucks. Glass seems to be colder than metal or dirt. Melting stuff freezes on it.
We have learned a trick. When it snows, it will mostly melt by morning, meaning ice on windows. We go out at night with a broom and dust it off of the windows before it can thaw and freeze. It is usually near my daughter's bedtime, so I let her put on boots and a coat over PJ's and make a little snow princess on the patio table. Meanwhile, I sweep the truck and van windows with a broom and lift the wipers to sweep under them. When I am ready to go in the morning, the roof and hood may have ice, but the windows and wipers are clear. It works every time so far.
