Well last time I met with you guys in April in NC I talked about a OBX trip. I know Steenh said he would like to go an wonder if anybody else would like to. Now this is a self suffiicient place...once you get on the Island I want to be on there are no paved road and nothing on it except a restored town..but its no occupied just a historic site. No stores nada..have to take a ferry to the isalnd. This is one of the last places to legally drive and camp on the beach. My idea is camping..doing a little sand wheeling, and some poles in the water....as well as "toes in the water, ass in the sand, not a worry in th world a cold beer in my hand, life is good today" kinda trip. 3-5 days. Not set a date yeat but it could be in the next couple months. When I get out of the Army I will have terminal leave which means I still get my full paycheck and am "out" but not officially until my leave ends but I am out..cannot be called back. Would like to take advantage of having no bills and take a nice trip while still gettin my pay. Anyone interested? I got a RTT and fridge...gas is also going to be needed. All supplies must be taken on the island to live. Let me know if your interested.

I am hoping for September sometime. Looks like its in the 80's during that time frame. Which means probably be nice camping weather at night with the breeze off the ocean but still nice shorts and t shirt weather during the day.

Well as soon as I get my appeal back from the VA, I will get my clearing papers, clear the post and take leave nad have to move back to Macon. Clearing should only take a couple weeks and soon as that is done I am moving. I will let you know as soon as I do.
I would be interested. Can you post the name of the island? If not I understand. I have been to Oak Island years ago and there was some island we would go to, something like "Buzzards Bay"?

There's also a private ferry that takes you out there. It's like $75 fee, not sure if it's round trip or one way....

Well its here or going to the west coast. NC is closer than Rubicon, Moab, and Colorado.
When I know details I will give them. I was just poking the fire to see what kind of interest I could get.
I may just go to the West Coast and road trip it with me and my wife. Who knows I just need a vacation I will remember. Its been a long rough last 3.5 years.
