Has any one figured out what type of O Ring is used on LJ70s. I seem to have run into more than a few O rings that have dried out and when I try to replace them from a standard metric O ring kit I do not find match. I researched O rings a bit and noticed that there is JIS series of O rings. Anyone figure out if Toyota used the JIS series?

Yes I can buy the specific O ring by part number but its usually $10 shipping fee for a 10 cents O ring. Would be lot easier to just buy an O ring assortment that covers what Toyota uses and have them on hand.

There is a European metric (DIN) and the Japanese Industrial Standard. So maybe you have been using the Euro type. They do come in kits with various sizes.
The LJ70 would be using the same assortment as any other Landcruiser , especially the 60 series of the same years.
I imagine anyone truck dealer like Isuzu, Hino, Mitsubishi, UD would be using the same o rings as a landcruiser.
There seems to be only 3 types of o-ring sizes. Imperial and the 2 metrics.

This JIS one is on Ebay for about $50 and there are some that are cheaper. You could probably sell a few off to get some of your money back.

Thanks, I rolled the dice and ordered a Japanese JIC version. If I get 4 O rings out of the kit I have paid for it.

The US o-ring standard is AS568.

We are talking metric. To my knowledge the American standard is in inches.

Those notches in the corner of the box must be a gauge for determining the oring diameter

I got my kit and can confirm that at least the radiator drain plug and the water sensor on the bottom of the fuel filter is JIS.

There is probably quite a few o-rings on a landcruiser that are the same as Toyota cars and Hino trucks or any Japanese vehicle, the radiator plug o-ring would be one. There are parts used on Landcruisers that crossover to 300+ Toyota models. Once you have the part number, its just a matter of running it through a parts EPC
