Congrats now that you have it whats on the agenda for it mods and what not? Hope to see it at the meeting.

Well before I start the long process of mods, I have to work on getting it mechanically sound. First thing is the Windshield wiper transmission, that needs to be replaced. The other is the transmission pan, I think I might have to replace it as well. Thats pretty much all that it needs in the next few weeks. The body is in ok, condition. It has a couple of rust spots, but I do plan giving it a new coat of paint. I'm debating on weither keepin the stock paint or going, with another color. I like the stock it has now, so most likely I'll just leave it stock
(stock is a two tone silver-blue/Charcoalgrey).

As far as mods go, I'm gearing towards an expedition type trail rig. I'll go for either an 2.5" or 3" lift. I haven't decided on a lift, but most likely OME. I'll rock out 33"s for now but if peer pressure sets in I'll save up for the almighty 35's. then I'll have to boost the lift. I'll go with a bullbar and rear tire carrier, and I'll throw on a winch later when money permits. I haven't really decided on weither on or I want a roof rack. I like the look, but I wonder how the hell people get all that crap up there, and then back down, without killing themselves. If I do go with a roof rack, I'll pick up a pair of sliders. I really like Ken Hanna's, his style is alittle less noticable. I hate sidesteps, so thats not really on the top of the list. Thats all I can really think of off the top of my head.

Its going to be an ongoing project and I can't wait to get started, so I can head out on the trail. If anyone knows to where I can pick up a new/used wiper transmission, let me know. Other wise I'll just buy a new one. Have a good one and I look to hear from everyone. If you have any advice, feel free to shoot me a line. Later, fellas

Matt

Before you buy anything parts-wise, unless you have a great local source, contact Cruiser Dan here. He can get you and send you most anything OEM available and it will be cheaper even including shipping than I'd bet you can find locally.

NOW POST A PIC!

In the meantime, apply Rain-X to all of your windows, 2Xs....I had a custom truck when I was younger, and using this stuff if you get a good coat eliminated the need for wipers except for the most severe downpours. (it was a street truck, no mud)

And when/where next meeting?

Thanks, will do.
I'll be able to post pictures tomorrow. Sorry guys

Cool man glad to see yet another 62. I live in Due West down from you. I would like to see pics as well. where didi you get your 62 from? I've had mine about a year and finally starting to do a few things to it. Got 4" Alcans on the way and will be assembling parts to put the lift on in the next few months. I doubt we will get to meet at the next meeting as i will be busy. Looking FWD to pick tomm!

I bought it from a family that lives out in Hickory Tavern. Very nice people, they had a ad in the autotrader. I would post up that picture, but it does the cruiser no justice what so ever.

89, let me know when you are going to put that lift on, I'd like to come out and lend a hand or just watch and learn.

I believe the next meeting is the first Sat. in march at the Sonic in Easely, SC............ although I am not exactly sure, Gundy is the man in charge, maybe he will post up the time and place.

I will prob post when it i start on the lift I wan to get it on b/f GSMTR but not sure if that is poss. We will see though. Still have to get a good bit of stuff yet.

I saw that there was a 89 FJ62 for sale in the Carolina trader this week if anyone is interested.

That 89, was it down in Charleston? I went and looked at a 89 down there last weekend. I wasted 40 bucks in gas. That truck was in pretty bad shape and the guy would not back down on his price. If anyone is interested, hit me up and I can give you a few details about it. Later

It didnt say where, guys # is 803-513-1882 Asking $4500 for it. with 192K miles grey, runs and looks good. 31" BFG TA tires. Thats all it says.

There is a guy in Hodges who has a parts one but he wont let me buy it. Its a long story but I have givenup on getting it. I'm just gunna drive mine as it is (rust wise) and buy a nice cruiser later on and use the parts I add to mine on the one I buy. But this will be awhile! Wife and I are living on 1 income with a 6 mo. old. :) Its worth it though!!!

charleston is (843), and its also not a good place to buy a cruiser, usually full price and nothing special. lived there for 7 years (97-04) and i have seen all the cruisers. they do have a good 4x4 shop "lowcountry 4x4" mostly jeep stuff.

did the cruiser just have new shackles put on?

No, the cruiser I looked at had about 5,000 mi, on a rebuilt 3fe. The transmission was shot, the only thing that worked was Reverse and park :D . The body looked to be in ok condition, no rust, no major dents. I think it had some electrical problems as well. Other than that, I would have picked it up, if the guy would sell it for around 2,000, but he wants a solid 4,500. To much for me! If you had some extra cash laying around, it would be a great parts truck.

OK where are the pics man?? I have hear about that cruiser you went and looked at somewhere. Might have been on here not sure. That didnt sound like a good deal to me. Way to much! I agree 2,000 if it al else checked out. That guys trying to get the cash out of that rebuild.
