Not mine - Came across this on autotrader (im looking for something more stock)
Inventory: Used Other 2005 Lexus LX 470 stk# P6672A

This is fully done, ARB front and rear, tire carrier, snorkel, roof rack etc.. 80k miles priced at 25k which seems very reasonable.

I'd rather have ARB F & R lockers than ARB F & R heavy armor but to each his own. At the very least I wouldn't consider it fully built until it has something more than A-TRAC

Unless something is mechanically wrong, this will sell quickly.

I was right. I talked to the dealership and there was someone test driving the car at that moment. Someone who drove 4 hours to see it. And he said, "Believe it or not we've had people from all over the U.S. call about the LX." I told him I believe it...bet it's a bunch of mudders...

What is that little metal ball looking thing next to the sear heater switches?

This thing is still on their website. I wonder what's wrong with it? Anybody local go look at it?

The guy told me it had a minor wreck in 2015. Besides that the dealer tacked on the price of mods when you can't factor that into a sale price. The truck had a bumper prior to ARB...so I think it is like 6K overpriced

Its definitely way overpriced but from what I have seen people "factor" the mods into their sale prices all the time.

Can anybody figure out what the metal ball thing is in the pictures? And is the AHC still installed?

Not at full price...someone is considering selling their 80 right now on this forum for 10-12k with an easy 15K in mods...

You can't get a vehicle, take stuff off, and replace with more expensive aftermarket stuff and just tack that cost straight to the price of the vehicle. It's used stuff at that point, on a used, previously wrecked vehicle...

I spent like 2000 on electronics (headunit, speakers, satellite, backup camera, and multiple amps). I can't just add that cost to the price of my vehicle if I sold. Can I?

I'm always amazed folks never understand that the $ you spend personalizing a rig (and armor, snorkles and roof racks are personalizing) is rarely recouped in a sale.

I may well have been interested in this vehicle, but ai sure as hell don't want to pay for that ugly roof basket or a snorkle that will almost never come in use, or heavy armor. I'd rather spend that money on lockers and suspension articulation first. I see some of these 'upgrades' and accessories as no different than converting a Cruiser to a lowrider with 20" wheels and asking me to pay for it.

I agree not at full price

No you would definitely have to depreciate it considerably I would imagine. Unless of course you find that one guy who is looking for exactly the upgraded equipment you dropped in it. I think thats what a lot of people are hoping for here and perhaps this dealer. No disrespect to anyone with an ARB on the front but most of them just look clunky to me. Therefore I wouldnt give a seller any credit for it but plenty of others might. On the other hand something with a trail tailor or slee short bus I might be inclined to pony up some credit for it. I guess thats what makes some of this "hobby" of ours interesting. To a point.

I was going to pony up this money for @benc truck. Just couldn't find financing. It is the case where everything done to it is exactly what I want to do to my eventual next Cruiser. The price is/was totally justified in that case. But here...probably not so much. Not a big fan of the ARB bumpers and I don't need a basket up top. Dissent or slee bumpers and a flat rack up top.

I also err on the side of doing mods myself, even if it costs a bit more...more satisfaction that way for me at least

Just me but I would rather buy one built because you're always ( most of the time ) going to come out better. I've built them and bought them built, will take the already built almost all the time. Most dealers have no idea what mods cost and will under price them but not in this case. I saw a 2013 Tacoma double cab sell a few months ago in my town and they basically priced it around retail book. This thing had 40,000 miles, front and rear ARB air lockers, $2000 in suspension parts, TRD supercharger, ARE topper, new MTR tires, ARB bumper with a Warn winch, and a nice rear bumper, They were asking $25,000 for it and sold it for $23,000 which is about what the truck by itself retails for. If you start adding up the mods, new they were probably $15,000 plus, heck the supercharger was probably $7000 or more because it was dealer installed. I couldn't work it out at the time but was trying to figure out a way to buy it. Glad it didn't work out, just bought a fully built 1999 100 series with 98,000 miles and would much rather have the 100.
