Location
Medford, Oregon.
On my lunch break I decided to take the cruiser for a good freeway run out to Ashland and back. Good thing I did. Applying power getting on the freeway headed south I feel it slow suddenly and then hear a loud metal-on-metal grinding noise. Immediately pulling over I check to see if the T-case has popped out of position. No matter in Hi or Low I still get a grinding noise and limited movement. I get it off the freway at Barnett Rd. and park it in the Harbor Freight parking lot. And there it sits. Can anyone help me get it either to Jesse's house or over to my place ?? If not, I can Call a tow tomorrow . I'm at work right now and will be working late. If someone can go pick it up call me when you get there for the secret key location, Chris. :crybaby:

i'll go grab it with the car trailer when I get off work around 5 or 6. maybe the t-case was drained after all? i've never heard of an automatic making a grinding noise, they usually just don't move.

I can help, but don't have trailer.. or hitch.

OK guys, thanks. Jesse my thoughts are-- yes, the T-case was empty, or maybe the output shaft on the tranny is blown out?? I don't know. At this point I'm out of time leaving tomorrow night for a week in California. I'd be happy if it were over there safe until I get back. Remember there is still the T-case on my old tranny. It never caused any problems. Swap?? Damn! went from elated for a day back to totally bummed. Not only for me but you guys too and all your work. Maybe more burritos when I get back?? I'll try to hook up with you guys later- I should be able to get out of here about 4:30 or so.

Had to come home and pull a bulb out of a piece of equipment. Call me when you head over there, Chris.

OK guys, we made it safely down to Vacaville for Thanksgiving with our kids and grandkids. Have not seen many of them in a long time. The 5 was remarkably free of snow and ice. I'll be in touch when I return on Monday. Everybody have a safe holiday and a fun one. Thank God we were lucky enough to be born in the U.S. !! We surely have so much to be thankful for! Chris.

My return trip was ice/snow/rain free so far. I am in Modesto at a hotel. Great times in Oregon. I'll be back in June/July. Maybe get some wheeling in then.

Very good :)

We'll be doing our annual McGrew Trail run end of july.

Took the 62 off the trailer yesterday and pulled the drain plug on the transfercase... only about a half cup of gear oil came out! :censor:

What's going on? Isn't half a cup more than enough? :D Thanks Jesse. I'm sitting here watching the weather and checking all the chain requirements. Looks like I'll get to use those chains on the way home tomorrow.

Now I know my way around, I can maybe put this in the schedule.
I'm at home now. Non drama ride home. Thanks for the hospitality on Oregon!
