Deer Valley
IMO Deer Valley is mostly about smallish rocks beating the crap out of you. Not much off camber, one or two narly uphill runs (South to North). Lots of 80's just made the run with no damage.
Gas on the Highway 4 side is maybe 20 miles to the west or more from the trail head.
Gas and cooked food (and cocktails) are available at the Kirkwood Inn on Hwy 88. This is west of Carson Pass and the DV trailhead for a N-S run. No gas anymore near Sorensons.
Can I go too?

Looks like I am going to miss this run

I didn't get my 55 done in time BUT I bought an 80 and I am flying into Saremento tonight to get it. IF I drive up to the trailhead can I hitch a ride in with somebody? I really don't want to wheel the new to me 80 but would love to hang out with you guys again.

Oh well, the black dog and I are heading out by way of Iron Mountain and 88. Leaving before noon from Pville.
I'll be on 146.805/r, PL123. If you are on the trail call me on 146.805 SIMPLEX and use high power. You cannot hit 805 very well from the trail head.
Oh and I'll have the other band on as well. By channel and the date. Today is August 25. Channel 25 today, 26 tomorrow.
I'll probably drive in from 88 a few miles looking for a place to spike camp. Call me on the radio. I should be at the trailhead by 2:30.

im going to barney riley trail saturday probably reach trail head by noon or so. if any of you see a silver fj60 with arb bull bar give me a honk or if i see you i will pull over and intro myself! will probably be going 50 to mormon emigrant trail (sly park) to 88 to markleeville turnoff and on to the trail.
