so im currently in the process of bringing a fj60 back to life for my little brother and the PO had done a homemade SOA conversions that was sketchy to say the least. I have a parts truck that I yanked the springs and diff from all together and my plan is to buy some taller shackles and swap the springs and diff over to the new truck(I have a set of 33x12.5 for this truck I received as for trade I want to fit easily). however I cant seem to make up my mind as far as how tall I should go what vendor to go through should the front and rear have the same height etc...any feed back would be greatly appreciated

I would do the complete swap, using whatever shackles you have, and then study the situation (current height, tire clearance, etc.) and order the shackles after that. There are too many variables to order everything up front and hope to get just the result you want.

Once you've swapped all the parts, installing new shackles goes pretty fast, since all the bolts were/are loose from the spring swap. Of course, giant shackles aren't the optimum way to lift the truck, so I would only consider using shackles for an inch or so of lift.

Use the passenger window sill or the roof gutter as your leveling point. Don't go off the fenders. The front fender wheel arch is higher than the rear.

When the truck is unloaded, you want the back end to stick up a little higher than the front (mild stink bug stance) so that when you carry some gear & full tank & stuff the rear end isn't a saggy assed cruiser.

Thanks StevenH and Output shaft ill reuse the shackles I have then order from there. I have until May to get this thing back on the road so I have time. I don't feel like im stuck anymore once again thanks guys!
