Took possession of my NEW TO ME 2011 lx with 101k miles. as I am pulling out of a parking garage I turn the wheel all the way to the left and get this horrible loud creak sound. when i get home i get the same when i turn it all the way to the right.

He didn't drive it much the last week and I seem to hear it way less frequently, and it's only when the car is not moving.

what might this be pointing to? it's honestly perfect 99.5% of the time and no plans to take it in just yet. So wanted to start reading up on possibilities. any thoughts?

Creak as in metal parts rubbing slowly across themselves, or a groan like a hydraulic pump noise, or a squeal like a belt?

Creak I'd look for loose steering components, Tie rods, steering rack, ball joints.

Groan like hydraulic pump, I'd start with a flush of the power steering pump. I had to do this on my 100 series and 200 series due to groaning power steering pump. I think this is most likely since it doesn't happen when moving.

Squeal could be serpentine belt and tensioner (Belt slipping when really loaded by PS pump) or PS pump going bad and causing perfectly good belt and tensioner to slip.

Those are where I would start...

The steering end-stops on Toyota trucks are metal-on-metal contact, so there is a strong possibility of metal-on-metal creaking if the wheel is fully locked to one side and the truck is moving. However, this could be counter to your statement "its only when the car is not moving." FFT

I will try and check again. Thank you for pointing me in this direction.
