I can't seem to find anybody that has Swampers for sale. I heard a rumor here that one of their suppliers went bankrupt and that is the reason.

I was thinking to replace my current bias ply TSL's with the same tire so I haven't really been shopping brands. I took the head of the finance committee to Bronco Canyon a couple of weeks ago. During the trip she told me I'd better get new tires before I do Rubicon in a couple of weeks.:grinpimp:

What is a good alternative to the TSL's?

My current tire is 36"(now worn down to 33") 12.5 X15. They have been working well for the trails I do (Rubicon, Fordyce, Dusey. etc.) although they are a handful on the highway. (I could probably afford a different set of wheels if the tires aren't to high priced.)

I'm running FJ40 axles with mini truck knuckles and Longfield birf's and inners, 4.11 diffs with ARB lockers, 4:1 t-case and 2.5:1 Toy Box. From what I've read I could probably go to a 37" or 38" tires with this set-up before I start breaking parts. (I'm pretty conservative with the right hand peddle.)

I'd be willing to sacrifice some trail performance for an improvement in highway performance, but this is mostly a trail rig.

Get a set of Pittbulls and go wheelin..

Personal preference as far as the tread pattern.

They do run wider, but they are a sticky, strong tire.

Interco has some bias 36" Irock's for cheap
XI-801 TSL IROK BIAS 36X13.50-15 4 $180.00

I've been running those for a 4 years and they are great on the trail and on the road. They don't flat spot like the SX and TSL bias when sitting, and mine balanced without a ton of weights. IMHO you can't beat them for a 36 mud tire. They have been priced below the competition in only that size for years.

Rusty...
FWIW, Im planning on the pitbull rockers. There is a vendor here on mud that priced a STEAL of a deal. Not quite as cheap as the bias TSL's, but...
I was pricing the 37x12.5x15, and they were great price.

Check in the vendor section.

:meh:

Okay sidewall and hard tread compound. Not a big step up over MT's or AT's.

then the Red labels are better on the trail .? ( the should .. )

if you were happy with the TSL's you should be happy with the Pit Bulls..

I have the 37's and they drive like crap around town.. but if you own a diesel, go for them!

Or buy mine, and i can buy a set of 40" MTR's! lol

Sounds good, shipping from CO to NV shouldn't be to bad.

red labels are much better on the rocks.

They just are very expensive and wear very fast (sticky compound).

People deal with their "issues" because they stick sooo well..

How do the Pit Bulls compair to a bias Irok? I have 37x14.50x17 Iroks that I will be replacing in a year or two and the Rockers look interesting. Of course I wheel the PNW, which is a bit of everything in one day! LOL

great tread pattern and still softer than tsl's or iroks from what i've read....didn't think his axles would hold up to red labels

He is a "soft" driver ;)

my Rockers had more tread after 3 years than my IROK's did after 3 events...ran 39 IROK's in early 2004 and sold them before the tread ground away.

the 37x13.5-17's Rockers I have still have great tread life remaining...my current 39x14.5-17 Maddogs are wearing, but they are a 'non-production' compound...expecting to replace them at 3 years or so...

The Rockers proved themselves many times for traction...

Has anyone ever wheeled with both tsl's and pit bulls? I looked at the pits and just can't see them performing like a tsl. Lots of loose hill climbs around here require massive tread gaps and horsepower...

This is true, deep gears air lockers and mostly granite trails, my truck sees very little wheel spin or shock loading to the axles.

I've been trying to find a set of comp tires used from one of the local teams, but they tend to be 42" and up.

One local fab place has some sticky 37" Trxus swampers in stock but I know nothing about them.

I also heard that Interco was going out of business. Sad if it's true as they are supposedly one of the last American tire makers.

p.s., I passed you guys heading into Gerlach, as I was heading out of it. I also posted some KK pics as you asked in the kimberly thread in the trailer section.
