No TSL's? Now what? (1 Viewer)

I guess the sharper turns would compensate for the extra width on tight trails.

How are the Toyos on rocks? I run them on my UZJ100 but it rarely sees anything tougher than a gravel mining road. They are loud and stiff on pavement but I can fly down roads that are know for destroying sidewalls with no fear.

have you considered the new MTR's with kevlar sidewalls? you can get the 40's and 42's in sticky's not too

I have a couple of friends running them. They are on the short list but it will come down to cost vs performance. A new set of tires on my truck represent a 50% increase in value.

I don't think my axles will stand up to bigger than 37" tires. Besides I can get away doing Fordyce with my worn out 36" swampers (they now measure 33") and that's about the toughest trail I do. So no real need to go bigger since I'm not compensating.

16 or 17 to 4

The latest development in my on-going saga.

It looks like tires for 15" rims are getting hard to come by.

So do I go with a 16" or 17" rim?

WHY a 17 in rim?

I called Pitbull today, their manufacturer went tits up so they had to move their molds to a new factory. No idea when they will have stock again on 15" sizes.

Ive run the TSL Bias ply, the TSL sx, and the 37" Rocker. The Tsls are great tires but there is little to no reason to choose them over the Rocker. The Rocker out performed them in the rocks, snow, loose climbs, control, highway. The only arena where the TSLs could hang with the Rocker was in this ugly mud we have here at the Cliffs (marseilles IL) (woody can testify to that), and even then it was close!

Due to my compulsion about needing to run something different every year or 2 I sold my rockers and decided to try radials, since I find myself driving alot. So I picked up a set of 37" Trxus's. Its nice on the road, and as good as I expected out of a radial off road. I still think they are probably one of the best radials. But I will be going to a radial rocker just as soon as someone wants to buy the trxus's.

BTW I dont tow, I drive my truck everywhere including the chicago toll roads! The Pitbull was a great road tire! smooth, good manners, and easy to spin. But LOUD AS HELL!! But if you dont like the sound of a B-17, you must be a communist! The TSL's are murder on the road! not as loud, but you feel every lug!

here is a cell phone vid of me driving about 60-70 mph down the Eisenhower on the Rockers...

Wow that's loud. Not sure if they're louder than my MTR's though. Does anyone have experience with the Rocker Radials? I would be interested in a set of those for my next set of meats.

First hand experience, TSL's are a LOT louder than MTR's. If the Rockers are louder than that.........

An interesting side note, the first time my son rode in my truck after I put the TSL's on the first thing he said was "This sounds like a WWII bomber."

I got a set of those same Toyos (37x14.5) just before Rubithon, hooked up like magic on the granite. Better than my old SSRs.

Thanks for the update. Denman (who also makes the Interco tires) is who was making a lot of the Pitbull tires. I've been calling once a month or so and keep getting the "Not ready yet..." response. :crybaby:

Ditto!! :lol::lol:

I want a set of radials as well, but not many people have them because right after they released them, the plant that made them closed.

I'll own another set of PBR's again. The little 33's I had outperformed my 36" IROK's in everything except overall height.

That looks like Andy spotting you. :D

I have the Toyos on my 98 LC and so far they have worked great but that's pretty much a gravel road mall crawler truck. They seem to be wearing well, we put a hella lot of miles on the 98.

That is Andy, but he's not spotting me, his hands are down.
This is the spot where he was telling me how nicely those Toyos hook up...
