if you get it fixed come over and work on mine
had the same problem when i bought mine a year ago. couldn't keep her running w/o the choke pulled about 1/3 of the way out. i was convinced i needed a carb rebuild but found an honest FJ mechanic who showed me the problem in about 2 seconds. there is a connection of some type on the drivers side of the carb (elec. choke?) that was disconnected. he plugged it together and voila! hope your problem is as simple.
x2 on fuel cut solenoid (probably what bigD had wrong too, no electric choke on stock carb).
