Try summers in Dallas!!!!

seen it done in some pretty pictures before, not first hand - looks uh, different

as long as you don't mangle the hinges it should be about as easy as putting cabinet doors back up in your kitchen, minor realignment once you get them on but no big deal

post some pics after you do it

Use the A/C

I planned on doing this originally. Was even gonna make some custom
Bronco-like doorframes to keep stuff from falling out. And custom soft
doors for when it got cool. Also planned a sunroof, too.
But I was warned (by W.J. Markerink, IIRC) that the old doors would never
go back on right.
I may still try it. Who knows?

Ugh. Doors GOOOOOOOD.

Ugh.

I have heard from a few 60's guys that pulled the doors, wheeled it and tried to get em back on......they didn't go well, the doors are keep the body from flexing out of spec.......take em off the body will twist and the alignment is screwed up. If you taking them off forever....then its fine, if you plan on it fitting back together like before........it might not.

Or, put in a roll bar/cage first. Then frame twisting won't be an issue.

Ooh! That's what I'll do.
Guess I'll have to settle on a 13 second 60. :-\

Ok, what's with the drag racing 60 anyway?

I know of a Cummins Dodge that does high 10 second quarters.

You have no Idea of what it takes to make a diesel do that!

MMMMMMOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYY!

TB :P

Actually, I do have an idea of what it takes.
I'm even trying to get a job in a shop that does just that. :)
And I don't really want to drag the 60. I'm just a firm believer in the speed
potential of TDI diesels. :)

My point was that if you do know what it takes you'll know that you'll NEVER make a Toyota diesel do that!!!

No Toyota diesel would stay together in the situations that are caused by creating that kind of power.

Yanmar ;)

any of those look like a Toyota dsl ;)

It has long been my belief that Toyota overbuilds their motors so much
that doubling their rated outputs would be a trivial matter. Maybe even
tripling.
Especially if those motors are TDI to begin with.
Look what can be done with a gasser. 1000+HP from a Chev 350? And that
block isn't made to stand up to the kind of pressures a diesel block is.
Especially when you start punching it out.
Yes, it's all about cubic dollars. Someday I'll have enough of em to prove my
ideas. :D

No smart guy, none of those do look like Toyota diesels that go in your car!

Got any more?

Want me to show you 1000 hp cummins engines?

TB

not the LP series? Yanmar and Toyota/Hino are all related.

I have seen close to 1000hp cummins.......and they spit tranies and diff allover the place ;)

So why doesnt somebody put one of those into a truck?

And if they have why havent we heard about it?

Why dosent Toyota put that in their bigger trucks?

TB

Hey luvenmud- Sorry about the hijack. :)
HZJ- All good questions. No good answers.
I want to know why no one has put the money and time into diesels (until
very recently) that has long been put into gassers to squeeze more power out of them.
I mean, there have always been companies here and there, but nothing like
the race engine builders for sapark-ignition.
Maybe it has something to do with diesel having more BTUs and being far less
dangerous to handle makes it less macho to work with? *shrug* Who knows?

prolly cause they are spendy and not quite the same as a Cruiser motor, they prolly have no emissions at all.

ever seen a Toyota boat? they sold them for a few years(in the US, haul was made in US), stoped in 2002ish. Used the 4.7ltr Tundra/Cruiser motor(but no emissons), they were ski boats

they have a bit of a cult following............go figure? :)

In Japan you can get a 37" Toyota strangly fimilur motor(or at least to someone who hasn't spent a lot of time around Toyota dsl)
