Is anyone running the Nitto Trail Grapplers on an 80? I was interested in the 285 70 R16 on a stock suspension. Any pics or feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I'm on my second set of 315s. I got 54k out of my first set. Great tires for my needs.

Rob, you are showing the Terra Grapplers. Which I have as well
I am interested in the new Trail Grpplers as well, but they are not available in the 315/75/16 yet so I might go with the Terra again or switch to MT/R Kevlar.

You're right, I missed that detail:whoops:

I'm about to put the stock height replacement kit from OME on. I use the truck as a DD but love the look of these tires. They make an odd size "285 70 R16" that is 1" taller than the stock tires. It should pair well with the new suspension which should raise the truck about 1".

TJ96TLC,
OME stock hight - I went that route at first. I wanted to strongly recommend to you to get the OME 2.5" kit.
The 2.5" would give you what you think you will get with the 1". I wish someone told me that.

Really, what tires did you put on your truck? Any pics? Is it still comfortable for a daily driver?

YES. the 2.5 is more comfortable then 1". It has more give and it is more enjoyable.
I kept the stock size tire for a while and then went with the 295/75/16. But that is another topic.
IMHO, the OME 2.5" is better for daily driver than the 1" and better yet than the OEM.

I think I will probably do the 2.5" medium with some 285 75 tires on the stock wheels.

I have second battery, arb and winch, so my front is heavy and rear is medium. If you are not planning to load the front. medium should be good. But ask the experts on that.
Don't forget you will have to do the front bushings to take care of caster.
Mine is 1.5 caster with bushings and the minimum is 2 max is 4.
So you may want to go with the 3* caster correction (blue bushings from slee)

Here's my LX with the medium lift and 285/75 NTGs before the sliders were put on.

If you do blue, let me know your caster number after alignment.
I am curious to know the actual vs. advertised.

I did the OMEs first but it still wandered. Then replaced with Slee's Blues and I am at 1.9 on one side and 2 on the other. I'm hoping as I armor up it will improve. It definitely improved going to Slee's.

Just checked these out the sure don't give them away, a great looking tire, looks like if you did some sipeing on them and they would be a great on/off road winter tire as well. What good is this thread without a picture of the tire in question so..

I love the design. I just wish they had a 305/70 R16 version.

does look like a nice aggresive allterrain type
