I just recieved a set of these Nitto Terra Grappler AT 285/60R-18 RN 120S B

Anyone have any expierience with these, in regards to noise, highway ride and gas mileage. I have Bf goodrich AT's on my F150, great tires kinda noisy though, although I drove an FJ cruiser with the same tires and I could'nt hear them at all.

you may want to search...they talk about tires all the time....

good luck....

edit: this B has to stand for Blackwall. The Nitto specs say 3000 lbs. Interestingly, this tire is designated as "reinforced" on the Nitto site. Don't know what that means exactly, but the tire guy said he thought they would be equivalent to a C load or 6 ply tire. Unfortunately the dang Nitto guys don't provide a phone number and didn't respond to an earlier email request for info....
Put the 285/60R18s on the 100 today. These are very squarish at the shoulder and a nice rim protection lip. The 8" OEM rim is on the low side of the recommended range for these though. They should be quite a bit stronger than the street tires that are OEM on the truck. Only 1/2" taller, though. But still surely better for mild wheeling. They don't look very good IMO though, not very much rubber heightwise for the width. Kinda BMWish looking... :o Oh well...

e9999 - care to post some pix - I am very interested in what these look like. Would appreciate.

I have 265/70r17 on my 4runner and love them, super quiet and smooth, have not taken them off road yet, so i cannot comment on their performance in that area.

sorry, don't have any pics. I trust they are excellent tires (top rated in CR), but -if that matters at all- as I said, I think they look weird in 285/60R18. Very wide, squarish, with sharp shoulders. The contact patch is quite a bit wider than my 285 MTRs. I foresee excellent performance in sand, OTOH. Altogether, though, I would not have bought them for myself, but the :princess: was afraid to get bigger BFGs cuz she drives mostly asphalt and wanted a good ride... I think there is not enough rubber between the rim and the ground, in 18" with the Nittos for more than light offroading on rocks..

Maybe you should've gotten the 325/60-18 Nitto's which measure 33". From the pics, they look fine on Wngrog's 100.

Hose, will those (325/60-18) fit on a stock 100?

these 325s are almost 2" wider than the 285s. I sure would not buy any without some serious measurements and really serious assusrances that there won't be any rubbing issues (I don't know).

added: Had a quick glance at grog's thread. Isn't he saying that he had rubbing?

Any one have pics of these and will 325's fit a stock LC?

325s ?

These TG tires have a very wide contact patch. For comparison, the 285s NTGs we just got have a 10" wide contact patch. The 285 MT/Rs I have on the 80 have only a 8.5" wide contact patch. The NTG is very square.

So what is the max on a 16" rim 295?

That's what I got on mine. Stock suspension (still!) No serious off-road driving though, so I can't tell if they rub.

What really bothers me is the lack of info regarding "proper or correct" tire pressure for these tires. Nothing on the site and as of yet no replies to e-mails.

Can anyone help with this?

PSI setting on the NTG's is a pretty wide range I've found out.

I've run mine as low as 16 and as high as 60. I think it is kind of a personal thing - whatever provides most comfort and performance given your driving conditions.

I have nitto mud grapplers 35/ 12.50/ 20 Very loud, but cool

How do they do on the road in snow? I love the looks of those tires, but am thinking the terra grapplers are more practical.
