Nice looking truck on ebay

Two questions:
1. What the hell did he spend $10,000 on? Just wondering. I know the lift, slotted/drilled rotors, winch, snorkle and rack didn't cost 10 grand.

2. What is the spare tire mounted on? Looks like he flipped a tow reciever upside down or something.

Good looking truck though. I like green.

'man-a-freeZE'?

nice looking lc there... but the sub boxes can go.....

$10k In Mods Easy

He has over $10k into it easily. I am not in any way affiliated but having built a couple of 80s similar, I know how much it costs to do these sort of mods. Looks like he's got slee lowers, so assuming slee kit.
tires/wheels - 2500+
slee 6" - 3000+
4.88 w/arb's - 3000+
PIAAS - 200+
Stereo - 1000+
Roofrack - 300+
hilift - 50+
remote start- 160+
winch - 500+
rotors/pads - 500+

Total - 11,210+
It is easy to spend this much on mods over time.

$10k will not go far if he paid someone else to do the work. The parts content alone is spendy much less paying someone to install the stuff. I think that most of us take it for granted that we can do this stuff on our own, at least if time permits. I've had stuff installed just because it's cheaper to pay someone than to find the time to do it myself. This truck is still a pretty good deal at $13k if everything works.

I am familiar with this truck and know the prior owner. The current owner told me he has spent a lot of time cleaning the truck and has receipts for the $10k the PO spent. Like many of us, there were probably some "dupes" in the $10k receipts. I know he switched wheels a couple of times and he recently went from 35's to 37's.

The springs were custom made for the truck; not Slee.

The winch is on a 2" receiver mount. He cut a hole behind the front plate area and put a 2" receiver through the bumper, mounted to the frame.

To pull from the rear he would have to drop the spare as it is mounted in the rear 2" receiver with some bracing brackets.

Thats pretty cool....was that a custom job. I have never seen a receiver hitch specifically made for the front of an 80.

To follow up on c-jungle's question, does anyone know anything more about the spare mount? Beowulf, do you know if that's homemade?

I can see 10K in that truck counting the gears/arbs(plus install) and wheels/tires he has.

What the hell is that "tube" he has running across the back of the engine compartment?? It looks "silverish".

its a wiring harness(bunch of wires wrapped in a silver tube)

Ahh that explains the zip ties holding it in place I just noticed upon closer inspection. Not a bad idea as long as that stuff is temp resistant to some degree.
