Any news on where next meeting will be? I understand a picnic of sorts is being tossed about? WHos in charge and what we should bring would be appreciated sooner rather than later..Thanks all

I am point on this. It will be at Rio Vista park at Thunderbird and the 101.

I think some things have yet to be determined. Dimples will post when things are finalized...

@Dimples

Will Norm able to bring the swap cooler?

It is 7/21/17 replacing the monthly meeting at sonic. I'll be there at 4 pm to star setting up. There is a splash pad at the park so bring the kids and some sunscreen. I have a beer permit with the ramada rental cans only as there is no glass allowed in the park.

It will be potluck style. I have not picked a theme yet.

I am waiting on a reply from Norm to see if we can borrow his swamp cooler. He will not be attending.

I really enjoyed helping to host this event last year but if it wasn't for bad timing I'd have no timing at all these days. I'm in Flagstaff that day (weekend) for a volleyball camp. My neighbor Todd @samtoddlee is planning on going and he might be able to the cooler. Hope it's even bigger and better than last year - Westside! peace out.

Nice, thats just down the road from me. I wish I could make it but I will be out of state next month for work. Thats a really nice park my kids girl scout group does stuff there all the time.

Moving the start time to 6:30 forthe picnic. Food theme is southern comfort food

I am bringing smoked pulled BBQ pork about 10 lbs worth. And my 4 cheese mac and cheese.

What needs to be brought to go with the pulled pork? Buns? Slaw? Idk. Pickles?

Potato salad?
Cornbread?
Should we do corn on the cob? Is that southern?

I have a lot of questions.

Buns and slaw absolutely. Potato salad is always welcome. Corn on the cob is an all American food at home pretty much any where. Cornbread would be great

Some ideas:

Cheddar grits
Collard greens
Jambalaya or gumbo
Mashed potatoes and gravy (often overlooked)
Chicken and dumplings
Cobblers
Pineapple upside down cake
Watermelon
Lemonade and southern sweet tea

I had a change in work schedule so I will be setting up at the park at 5 instead of 6:30

I will bring a tub of potota salad and one of coleslaw.

Ah man, I'm going to be out of town. Hopefully I'll be able to make the next meeting!

I can do mashed potatoes and gravy.
