Hey, my name is Chris and I'm looking for a decent eighty series Land Cruiser. I'm looking for a 1993-95. I'm pretty excited about owning my first Land Cruiser. Any suggestions would be great, I've been learning a lot quickly. Thanks, Chris

Check out the Vehicles For Sale section, Craigs List, AutoTrader, and eBay. Take a little bit of time and buy the cruiser you want, not just what is avaliable, the cruiser you want WILL come along.

Glad to have you aboard, WELCOME :flipoff2:

Welcome aboard!

Finding just the right one can be difficult. Check out the newbie guide at sleeoffroad.com. http://sleeoffroad.com/newbie/newbie100.htm It has most everything you need to know. There are not that many 93-95 around in great shpe and low miles, but keep looking at craigslist and in the paper, some will show up. Are you looking for a daily driver or an offroad rig to build up? That makes a big difference in what to look for.

Welcome, from the other side of the Columbia River! I agree to keep your eye on craigslist, also I've had decent luck w/autotrader. The main thing is to just be patient.

I've been told there was an engine change in 1993 to a more capable engine and my budget will only allow me to puchase as new as 1995. Chris

Hey Bearcat. I'm looking for a daily driver and also want to take it off-paved-road and in the snow, nothing serious yet though. It needs to show nice for work.

go with the later year 80s.... when you get one lets go wheelin!!

It's already been said, but keep an eye out for what you want. There are plenty around, and with prices dropping and gas as $$$ as it is, you can afford to be picky.

You should decide early whether having the factory differential locks is mandatory for you. If it is (and it is for most of us here), it could take a little longer than you'd like to find the right one. If the diff locks aren't a big deal... what the hell am I saying? Keep reading. They are really nice to have and really don't add much to the price, just the wait to find the right truck. You might also broaden your search to include the Lexus LX450. You might be surprised that prices are pretty much inline with the Toyota model of the same truck.

Stop by a Cascade Cruiser meeting sometime. There are more and more of us 80 owners these days and there are lots of cool 80-friendly trails around.

Steve

Sending you a PM.

Welcome!

Ditto what Steve said. Pull out all the stops to get the 80 you want. X100 on the lockers. I did not get them and am looking at another 3-5k to have them. Even if you won't use your rig for heavy wheeling, it will be worth more on resale.

The Slee Newby guide is excellent. So is the FAQ section here. Post any specific questions.

Good Luck!
