Well, I've been spending a lot of time on this site over the last few months,
and it's been a tremendous resource.
So I thought I would tell you a little bit about my dealio. And share some pics.
Thought it deserved more than just being on the registry.
Also wanted to give props to David and the guys @ Urban Landcruisers.
I've owned my 83 FJ60 for about 7 yrs. Bought it with 65K, now has about 100K.
It spent 4yrs in storage while I lived in Hawaii.
Wrecked it before I left, so now the front end is a heap of mangled rust.
Drove it wrecked for a couple years and been saving up to repair it.
It will be my DD, with anywhere from 20-500 miles/wk. And I will be taking customers around in it.
(I'm not in the sex or drug trade)
So you get the idea.
I want it to be like I just drove a bad-ass truck off the lot.
David, and the guys down @ Urban Landcruisers here in ATL
are helping me spend my money.
They have been great to work with.
Unfortunately the out-sourced paint-shop has not been such a pleasure...
over the last year we have
-rebuilt front/rear axles
-rebuilt power stearing box
-upgraded to his Mil spec. battery cables/optima battery
-some other crap
-compression on the engine is good
now I'm in the process of
-body work/rust elimination/paint
-ARB Bull Bar
-Hella driving lights
-OME/Dakar lift
-some interior work
-Back to OEM rims/new BFG A/T 33x10.5 (I think)
Here's before pics (from my phone)
Here's where we're at now. (body and paint)
(typical before and after. Before?-dark and grainy 0.3 megapixel
After?-sunny 5 megapixel)
Anyways, that's my deal.
It's good to be a part of mud.
Thanks for everyone's help (past and future)
I will post new pics as she develops further.
