Got a 2013 LC a few weeks ago. I have to say it is a phenomenal vehicle. Had the chance to take it to the beach yesterday. Did beautifully well. One time it got stuck in the sand but came out with crawl control.

Wanted to ask the experienced folks to what would be the best winch (in terms of being well integrated) for the 2013 LC. I am located in Texas.

Thanks,

Mir

That depends on what you plan to do ;-) For using it 90% on Streets, and 10% on Tracks (which is much) I would suggest - to buy an integrated winch, without Front-Bar!

And get one with a syntetic rope, they arent that heavy. Warn offers the XP 9500 with syntetic rope..

So you dont have to upgrade the suspension - and the winch will pull you out, when you are in trouble.

And dont buy mud terrain tyres - buy a set of snow chains instead.

Here is an interesting thread about modding: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/5175-mods-you-wouldnt-do-again

When you want to travel arround the world, to cross africa - then maybe there are more mods to do. But also there - it is optionally i think. When you have more mods, you do more stupid things, and get stuck more often ;-)

Look at me, the dirtwater was already inside of my car..

Surfy, great link to Expedition Portal.

For the original poster, in the USA, we don't get the cool options of a factory bumper with winch. He could get to fabrication one though!

Thanks for the Info guys. Surfy is right. I am not looking for any hard core stuff.

What is the most non invasive way of put in a winch in the front bumper (much like the one in the Asian model). Any pictures or links for such an install would be great)

Here you can also not buy such a bumper directly from toyota.

It is an small and cheap aftermarket mod:

Based upon this initial post and comments you make futher down this thread, a winch may be overkill for your type of offroad driving. One of the first things you should do when going offroad is to lower air pressure in the tires. When going through sand that applies even more so. Dropping tire pressures down to 20psi or lower makes a night and day difference in traction and steering control. Save the money for the winch and buy a 100% duty cycle air compressor instead so you can reinflate before traveling back on road.

Very good points.

I wheel very hard and rarely have used the winch.

Invest in a set of Slee Sliders. Chances are you will trash your very expensive rocker panels waay before you get into really needing a winch with theses rigs.

A recommendation for a good air compressor?

Mir

U can fil up at every fuelstation, so you be able to take also a cheap one.

For quality viair is a good brand - suggest one of the smaller one - mostly you have Time to refill

Thanks for this info. I do not want an arb bumper in order to get a winch. I really like this idea. I had an arb on my 98 100 series because I could not figure out a way to get a winch on it any other way.
