Guys,
Could use some direction. I went and tried to start my 78 FJ40 after about a year in the garage and nothing.
Slight noise but wouldn't turn/crank-also headlights and turns don't work but high beams, sides and brake lights all ok.

Also brake booster ran dry.

Just looking for a good starting point to correct.
Had a freshly charged battery with me.

Start by inspecting your wiring and ensuring that critters haven't chewed on anything they shouldn't have. Next I would start checking ground wiring and make sure you have good solid connections on them. Pull up a wiring schematic from the FAQ and see where your ground connections are.

try jumping the solenoid directly

also may want to had rotate it a little first just to free it up, maybe a squirt of wd 40 in the cylinders wouldnt hurt

Loose wiring or corosion.,check for animal damage of some kind.Brake booster...dry?Where has fluid pooled? Mike

Check the following.

- check/clean grounds
- battery fully charged (check, you did this one)
- bypass positive battery cable to starter with jumper cables
- pull starter and bench test
- In my case this week, replace very corroded starter

X2 on all above...fuses too. I also suggest having a fire extinguisher around. You start spraying or using a cup of gas in the carb etc....tryin' to get her started (you know how frustrating it can be) so you wouldn't want anything to happen to your baby.
