I just pulled all of the insane wiring from the PO and their jerry rigged security system. Knock wood, the beauty has started every time since.

Funny you mention that, mine has an aftermarket security system too and it has a mind of its own.
I have disconnected some "things" from the battery and it still goes off. Everything else still works
so I dont really know what I disconnected.
Going to be a process.

Here was mine. Before I pulled it, it would start fine for a week or something, then it would just click. After messing with it for a few minutes, it would start. I put a new battery, terminals, starter, and alternator. Didn't change anything. We'll see if this was the fix.

OK, so after installing the fusible links...………..still not solved. Seems to be better, but not solved.
Still getting that "nothing" periodically when turning the switch.

I had the same issue on mine, I did the following, new fusible links, new starter, cleaned the NSS, cleaned ground to block and still had the issue. Finally did a relay and have not had any problems since. I was hoping to find the issue but I just got to frustrated and was worried about getting stuck in the middle of nowhere. There is a lot of writeups about this issue here on mud with great guidance from the mud family.
