Newbie loking for first 80

I am asking for sugestions for my first 80. I am looking for a '94 or newer due to airbags and abs and lockers if lucky. The truck will be used to drive my family up to our cabin in PA year round and its been snowy and icy lately. The truck will spend most of its time on pavement and unimproved roads with very light trail use. The truck will be carrying me and my family of 4 kids, wife and GSD.

Here are my questions
1.which models or packages should I look for for family comfort and saftey.
2. what are the differences between Toyota and Lexus as far as options packages seating arrangements etc.

Just to put it out there I prefer leather due to the dog, dog hair comes up so much easier from leather than cloth.

Well you will need newer than a 94 because they didn't have airbags. IIRC 95+ has airbags and OBDII along with a different dash. There is a thread... https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/15223-fzj80-vs-lx450.html that tells the differences between the two. Most that I have seen have leather, I know there are some without. I think you will be happy with either the Lexus or the 'Yota. I wish mine had OBDII and airbags, but oh well.

Not much difference between the two versions (Toyota/Lexus) --most are cosmetic. Seating is exactly the same, except for the leather is "supposed" to be softer in the LX.

If you're talking snow and ice, you are better off with a 100 series with ATRAC (traction control). The 80 series has no traction control (and lockers are no help on ice).
