Like all the rest of the stuff I have done on here, i am not waiting. I am having it done next Tuesday as of now. So i would really like to hear what you guys thin k of JBA headers. performance increases? side effects? header satisfaction in general? I now have 145k on this 04 and i want it to last at least another ten years. everyone says this is no problem but to stay on top of everything.

You will get more power and more noise too... Check the TLCFAQ. There is a full write up there complete with before & after dyno results....

where is that thread? forgive stupidity, but where is TLCFAQ? I looked under cruiser faq but did not see this. is there something specific to 100? would still love to hear anybody that has used JBA's? Thanks for your comments greg

TLC FAQ is the Motherlode of tech articles for LandCruisers.

He did the header write up on Doug Thorley headers not JBA, but honestly there won't be much difference in power between shorty-style headers anyway....

Lots of reading that site, enjoy!

Curious to hear how many hours of labor it takes....

My mechanic re-iterated what a PITA it is to remove the factory manifolds. Said one side is pretty easy, but the other side basically requires lifting up the motor / motor mount to get enough room.... yikes.

I'm putting new exhaust manifolds on multiple tundra and have been searching every forum for as much info as possible. out of tubdratalk

oops posted too soon, is there no edit feature on here? sorry for the double post

I'm putting new exhaust manifolds on my tundra and have been searching every forum for as much info as possible. Out of tundratalk, tundrasolution and the 100 series section there no contest to where the real legit and througho posters are (surprise surprise) the over all concensus is that OEM shorties are as good as you can get and dropping $500 - $700 on long heads will see you a performance increase but adding in the new pipes to fit with the long heads, dealing with the CEL not mention the labor of having a shop install it all or busting your own knuckles for what you gain it all seems like a pointless PITA after it's all done. I haven't found many posts saying this exactly, usually it's people that have bad installs or people that share the pointless point of view but and just tell people not to bother. The Tundra forums people talk about lap times and 1/4 mile times after header installs, which I find silly. Mudders seem more level headed in large and say the only real difference with exhaust is the sound they make.

Maltrix,

I got shorty doug thorley headers put on my 100 series and i like them. i am not an engineer but i read all the nice graphs posted about performance (i dont think i understood anything other than the x and y axis) and the pictures looked nice, but it was the comments and general consensus, that won me over. It was not much more than replacing the exhaust manifolds. why not? when i look under the hood i feel cool, and it makes me feel like i have a secret weapon when on the highways. My understanding is that there are no extra maintenance or future extra things i will need to worry about. I vote you put on headers.

Can you post a pic?
