Hello All from a Newbie!

I just upgraded my LC for the 3rd time to a '97 40th anniv (I think - more on that later). Previous cruisers have included an '85 FJ60 and before that a '75 FJ40. Love my Cruisers!

My question is this: Do all 40th anniv edition LCs have the two-tone leather? And did they come from the dealer with brush guards on the front and tailights?? My cruiser does not have the former, but does have the latter. It does have the floormats, badges inside and out and they gun-metal grey 'T' emblem. I really hope I didn't get hosed!

Thanks and I look forward to using this forum.

No.
I recently took the front guards off - damn thing was stuck to the frame.
They are all off now.
I can attest they are damage multiplier - there is a left panel dent on the rear from the previous owner. Yeah the lights are intact but the cost to fix the panel is much more expensive. Dont do body work. :D

No cruiser came from the factory with brush guards, and any vehicle can have almost anything added at the dealership; but no, they aren't 40th specific.

40th does have 2-tone leather, floor mats could be added or removed, along with seats and the emblem. Best bet is to check the VIN number.

If you do not have tutone oak/brown leather seats the vehicle is not a 40th Anneversary.

Don't sweat it if it is a fake. It's not like the 40th is worth more...............yet :)

There is no way to correlate the VIN to the 40th package or vice versa. Search around here and you'll see what constitutes a real 40th. Only two color options (antique sage or dark green), two tone leather in all cases, black pearl badging and the interior and exterior 40th badges. Auto climate control is another absolute tell-tale sign.

Hmmm, I'm still not sure

Sounds like I've got all the components that make a cruiser a 40th anniv edition (Pearl Black emblems, badges, Auto climate control) excepts the two-tone seats. Oh well, the Anniv package was not a must for me, just a nice bonus.

welcome aboard :flipoff2:

If you actually have climate control and the right color (IIRC, the 40th came in 2 color choices), then the leather could've been replaced.

As already said...40th...no 40th...they're all the same.

Post a pic of your wheels. The 40th also had slightly different alloys.

If he has the auto climate, badges, black pearl, but just not two tone seats, then I believe it should be a 40th. But all that matters is that you have a Cruiser! Welcome :flipoff2:

It could also be a Collector Edition. The Collector has Climate control, side mouldings and the darker wheel accents like the 40th does but does not have tutone leather. What is the body color?

:flipoff2:

40th anniversary editions are overated......
