Well if you find out that you are geared a bit low and decide you want to regear my 60 has 3.9 and I wouldnt mind going to 4.11 - should be a simple swap of the thirds to get it done. Let me know if your interested.

It was a good price, may i ask why you didn't pick it up?
Maybe a stupid question (probably bc of the problems i'm having)

I thought it was really nice and drove well. I already have two 40's and didn't want the rust so I was being picky.

I thought is was solid mechanically, though. And power steering to boot!

Hey, i said I lived nearby and could deliver parts, im no mechanic by any stretch. "is there gas in it?" And I think I sat in a 40 a couple times, never driven in one though. Alright Cook, maybe you an Bman should start your own little thread together, call it 5th grade humor.

Awesome news,

Got together with Leftarmtan, Jim, yesterday and all is good. After looking it over he right away noticed the tach was not reading correctly. It is set to 6 cyl.

even at idle its reading 1500.

Got on the 10 yesterday and for the first time opened her up and she was flying at 65+mph
Jim was laughing bc tach was reading over 5000, and he said "if that was really 5000 we'd be seeing valves flying"

Guys just want to thank everyone for their help and suggestions. Jim thanks again. Enjoyed the talk and the beer.

The tach thing is unique, in my experience they work, are dead or get lost/the needle wanders, have never seen one incorrectly count? In that setting it should count 6 ignition pulses as 1 rpm, so maybe not labeled correctly, new defect?

If you get a chance, hookup an external tach to see how far it's off. Maybe able to use another setting to get it close to the proper reading?
