So i got my rig In April of 09 but haven't done much with it until now. I figured i would start posting my progress on mud to appease my cruiser fix in between paychecks :)

Here it is a while back when i first took the engine out

Ok easy stuff so far but now is when it gets fun. Took my seats, tank and tranny hump out only to find plenty of healthy looking cancer....

And now onto the removal of the tub. It was pretty tricky actually. We ended up hooking a come a long up to a cable my dad had stung up in a tree years ago for a tire swing. We had it all done on saw horses when i decided to exit the rear adding 200 lbs. You can imagine what happened. Needless to say we had to bust the come a long up and do it all over again.

Ahh the blood, the fun, the new found vocabulary haa haa! Welcome to the insanity and to Mud. Looks like you are going at it pretty good. I definately know the pay check thing. I am medically retired and I still have to budget what I can do month to month. Good luck and keep posting.

Took the axles off and started my frame cleanup. Also installing a frame boxing kit from Ruff Stuff Specialties. Its Shaping up to be a good build.

Thanks alot Roboos! Yea it sucked falling out of my tub and having to slam onto its ass end. Wish i had stopped and taken a pic though. Will post more progress soon.

I see you are in Loomis? I grew in Vacaville and Winters. Left Cali to head to Nam and never moved back. Miss the state but not the politics. My sister lives in Bella Vista near Shasta.

couldnt have said it better myself roboos. Cali is extremely beautiful with all the lakes, rivers, mountains, forests and everything else in between, however, we have a bunch of morons running it. So sad......

Here is the factory cross member from my frame, took me a while to get those rivets out though. Toyota really had those suckers in there.

Now I am contemplating if i should grind my old shock mounts out and use them or should I start from scratch and make/buy new ones. Anyone have any ideas on that?

Welcome to the club....

Join the club as in mud or as in building a 40 that consumes your life as well as your paycheck?

why did you remove the crossmember?

For proper installation of the frame boxing kit. I have a new cross member going back in. New one is thicker and im going to run it through the frame for extra strength.

Looks good so far... I am restoruing a 74 right now.. Been at it around a year and am about 80% done... Ready to finish her up.. Should be done by Christmas...

Looks like you're in deep and making good progress.
You have some interesting items lurking in your shop. :)

Way cool Mruff. Do you have a thread for it? Would love to see pics. Thank you daniel, yea not sure what your checking out but there is a 55 chevy stepside next to my frame in the car port, a 43 british MG model TF and a 24 ford flat bed pick up in the shop by my engine.

The MG caught my eye 1st. And the kettle looking thing behind the hanging engine.

Haha yea thats our furnace. We burn just about anything in there :D
