I feel like an idiot asking, but where exactly is the filler hole on the transfercase of an fj62?

Have you looked - it's hard to miss if you look. About halfway up / on the side..

What Jim means by "on the side" is on the back side. It is the only thing a 24mm (or is it 22mm) socket will fit on on the back of the case. It is up and to the left of the rear output.

I think it's 24 mm. Look to the left of the rear drive shaft and up a bit.
