Newb "?" 900 CCA Costco battery

Can one have a battery that is too strong?

I just put in a 900 CCA costco battery, because the PO's battery
died.... it was rated for 640 CCA

Will any electrical issues arise from this upgrade?

oh yeah, it was 90 bucks for those that are curious

Nope, more CCA is better, no issues. I'm running a $95 Walmart 1100CCA battery for 6 mo.s now.
 
Howdy! Should not be a problem as long as it fits the space available. You may notice it starts a bit faster now. The 900 CCA rating means it will last a lot longer if you have to keep cranking, and cranking, and cranking......... John

Good to know a strong CCA battery is ideal.
It does turn over really easily and a 14 size fitment just
made it in the battery tray

I just got two of thoes for my bj60 12 volt more juce easier cranking longer radio/accesorie life with truck off more cca the better ive found (especially on thoes cold -30 mornings)

You mentioned the longer cranking power, quicker turnover, more juice for electronics, etc... and it got me thinking...

My AUS BJ42 has 1 12V battery, but maybe other members have added a second battery (Don't know if these would be done in series or parallel)

I'll have to do a search and see...
 
The Canadian bj's were all 24v.
 
Ok, so stock or modded, with 2 12V batteries, the overall electronics system becomes
a 24V setup??

still haven't searched yet, but I thought I read a thread about adding an additional battery
to an existing 12V setup. Would this mean it would have to be upgraded to 24V components?
Or could one keep the 12V alternator, etc... but just have ....err more 12V power????

The Canadian bj's were all 24v.

You are incorrect in that statement....Canadian BJ 40's are 24 volt, Canadian BJ60's are 12 volt. 60 series and 40 series for Canada both had 2 12 volt batteries.....40 was in series (24 volt) and 60's are parallell, 12 volt.

and then there's the 70's... 85's are 12v, and my 87 is 24v, not sure what the genius' decided to do with the 86's.

I think 45kevin was referring to 40 series bj's tho.
 
wow how big are these batteries?? The only battery with that high CCA's that I've found where I am are way too big to fit into my battery trays!!

The battery is pretty large... just barely fit!
 
My HJ60 is 24V.

Some will modify their 12V system to run an extra 12V battery to run accessories, like an on board welder, not to run 24V.

The search engine should yield quite a few threads on this type of mod.

Higher cca means thinner lead plates which results in quicker failure.
You can not buy a 24 volt battery, hence the two 12 volt batteries. This will give you more then enough cranking amps.
I would suggest to buy the biggest batteries (27 series) with the lowest cca.

12V diesel cruisers also have two batteries standard. They're connected as 12V, but run together to still give you the amps of both batteries when starting.
 
x2 with the ease of starting the dual 12v batteries i got waranty on the batteries n i dont expect them to last a life time batteries go and if they last 4-5 years shiat im happy anymore lol they will die sooner not later
