With further digging it seems the guys at the inspection station had no idea what they were taking about. My truck does NOT need cats.

Thank god, I was thinking of how to convince the wife to start packing.

Although, new regs on old vehicles may not be too far off for this legislature.

That said, it was only 1 of a number of things that could have failed the truck so it's back in my garage for now.

I'll be driving a borrowed Honda Element to the FG. ;)

say it isnt so! so sad. oh well... there is always NEXT year.

absofrickinloutly!

New goal date is Spring Meeting/run. This is good, it gets me time to get things fixed right, have a pro replace the floor and rear rockers correctly instead of my hack & rivet job.... and if the wife has her way, paint it. ;)

A valiant attempt my friend! Take your time and do it right.

I'll let you sit in my pig and make engine noises......

Picked up my truck today, the exhaust came out nice. Morningside Auto in Charlestown, NH did a nice job. Reused one of my Gibson mufflers, did everything just like I asked.

Crossover from the pside manifold, 1 pipe running down the dside up high and out of the way. Exits behind the spring hanger, no more ridiculous chrome tips poking out the back.

Nice not to have raw exhaust coming up through the firewall (the old pipes weren't connected to the manifolds tightly).

Sound good still, mellow but still has that V8 growl. It cured most of my random banging but I need to dig around the body mounts under the driver's feet, something is loose down there and I need to figure out what it is.

Otherwise she drove well. Lights and wipers worked when I needed them. The bench seat won't cut it for long... I thought I liked it... I don't. :)

I'll get pics tomorrow if it stops raining.

Will spend the weekend dealing with the ebrake, chasing that loose "whatever" and adjusting my brake booster.

Progress is good!!

Sorry, still no new pics, Sara took the camera to Denver.

I did get under the truck and check things out and they did a REALLY nice job on the exhaust, it's really well done, clean bends and welds, tucked way up and mounted so sturdily that I couldn't get it to move at all. I definitely recommend these guys if you are up this way (Mornignside auto, Claremont NH)

That said I now need to tear into my dside floor and fix that body mount under there, i think that's the cause of my thunking. https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=182767

ggrrrrrrr... I'm trying really hard not to get frustrated but it's just one thing after another and I really just want to drive the friggin thing.

{sigh}{ such is life with a truck nearly as old as you are I know.

It's a Cruiser thing Dave, you'll get it done just take a break
and come back later.
