I picked up a new tundra yesterday...the question is....can I tow right away with it? The owner's manual says to wait 500 miles. I really would like to take it to the Fall Crawl up in PA this weekend and then on to my jobsite in Philly. I have my '95 powerstroke that I am going to sell and could use that, but the tundra is so much nicer!

thanks for the input...

I don't think the dealer or anyone would say it is a great idea if you can help it. If you do go easy on it I would think.
Mechanically speaking I suppose some break in time would be better under light load to let mating surfaces wear in a bit before you put more force on them. Oil is supposed to keep a film between mating surfaces anyhow. I'm not sure what 500 miles does that 100 miles won't do.

Then of course there are those who used to figure you break it in real hard and then she will be good forever..haha

Go for a long drive tonight! :D
