Hello All,
I joined your community a while back but rarely post. This is an incredible forum of knowledge and i cant wait to get home everyday and see whats new here.

Anyway, I just purchased an m416 trailer and had some questions. The trailer is in great condition from what I have been seeing around. Surface rust and some dings here and there but all there with the lunette, landing leg and the ebrake is rock solid!wooohooo! I need new leaf spring though and wanted to change the hubs over to landcruiser specs. Where can I get the hubs and the new spring and are the shocks a specialty item as well? Also he gave me two kinds of lights for the trailer and they are both 24v. New remakes of the old ones but nice. do i need a new wiring harness to switch them to 12v? The PO said i just needed to put 12v bulbs in...hmmm.

Thankyou for all your help!

Caleb....hope this pic works..I have the fenders too i just took them off to get it in my trailer.

I think the m416's are a bit harder to swap out the hubs for 6x5.5 hubs. The canadian m101's are a standard 3500 # axle iirc.

i know guys here have done it, maybe they will speak up! :D

X2.

He gave me a new wiring harness with the trailer so I will get some new bulbs and insert some electricity and see what happens. :)

There are 2 types of axles that can be found under an M416. One has spindle nuts that are similar (I should say identical) to the front spindle nuts of the CJ3A. The other has a castle nut with a cotter pin. This later one, I have only read of someone doing this, can have the hub/drum assemblies swap for a different lug pattern. If I find the part numbers for this swap, I'll post them.

Not to take anything away from Mud because this by far one of the best forums around :D but, you may want to check out the M416, CDN M101, and Bantam trailer group pages on Yahoo groups. All three of those groups have a wealth of information about everything from restoration/OEM parts to guys like us making weekend warriors out of retired soldiers. I am a CDN M101 owner and found a lot of good info on all three of those groups. The members and moderators on all of them are really great about pointing you in the right direction if you can't find what your looking for. One more site to check out is Expedition portal's trailer forum, again a lot of info with good people.

KY854RUN that would be great if you could find some more info! I have ordered new wheel bearing kits for the trailer but havent pulled the wheels to see what the nuts are. Ill let you know. Thankyou!
