Landcruiser 300 was revealed today. Many of us won't want it or can't afford it. BUT, it does introduce a couple new engines to Toyota's lineup. One or both of which will no doubt make their way into the Tundra/Sequoia etc. I'm really happy they haven't killed the cruiser diesel option.

Maybe, just maybe, that new diesel will end up in a new 70 series also...probably detuned like the 1VD-FTV was.

New diesel: F33A-FTV 3.3-litre V6 diesel engine using a pair of turbochargers to boost its outputs to 227kW and 700Nm

New gasser: Turbocharged 305kW/650Nm 3.5L V6 petrol engine has been mentioned for non-Australian markets to replace the 5.7-litre petrol V8

They have moved closer to the Euro competition like Merc Audi Rover etc. A hybrid diesel electric would have been fun

It's about time Toyota came up with a diesel V6. They are about 15 years behind the competition at this point. They have a lot of fuel economy to make up.

Replacing the VD V8 would be a good thing. The VDJ70 cruisers I think are only available in RHD. All the LHD are still 1HZ powered. I'm guessing the V6 will solve those packaging issues.

It's kind of funny Toyota finally doing a V6 diesel at the same point in time that Landrover do a straight 6 diesel though! It was the other way around.
