Found a very well cared for 02' in Dallas and flew up this morning .... it was better then expected and it ran amazingly... so cash changed hands. and I drove her home.... I will miss the 80 when I'm offroading hardcore perhaps but as a DD this is really a treat....

now to get some parts ordered up !

need to change my sig as well I guess....

I just got one too in Phoenix to add to the fleet and a pondering what to build on it.

Congrats!

Now let's see some images (or it didn't happen, ha!).

Congrat Erich!! Glad you got it!! :)

Congrats! Post some pictures when you get a chance. I'm also curious to know what the performance difference is like with the SC.

A few - cleaning and waxing her up today as it's beautiful today here....

ordered up some tires/ rims ( 18's w TG 305's) and a Doug Thorley

exhaust ..... hoping to make the decision on the Suspension path later....

loving the extra HP.... and Princess loves it....

One bonus was I found that the PO has a high end older k40 setup built-in.... !!

Nice find E, congrats. I need to come see you to check it out, now I have to find my way over to the 100 forum to keep an eye on your build.

nice rig, must one hell of an upgrade on the road compared to the 80.

It certainly is different then the 80..... although after a quick outing yesterday it's clear that the suspension at 90k is not up to the task of handling the power .... had a chance to run up a section of low traffic highway and got a sense of what needs work.... calling Just Differentials and Slee today .....

ironically the 80 felt twice as planted and had a much smaller feel to it.... hoping that will change once we get the mushy dampners off and some fresh rubber on....

overall VERY happy....it does lack the soul of the 80 for sure but princess is very happy.....

will be starting a build thread today - never did one on my 80 sadly but plan to this time around....

Cheers!

I have been driving a silver '99 for three years, SC'd, DT headers and catback, 305 Nittos, BIO armored under chassis, 4.88's, radflo's, slee suspension, upgraded IFS on the front and wildwest fab LCA's on back, arb's, slee bumpers and 10k winch etc. My experience is you are going to enjoy that "new to you" truck.

Morning -

Any feedback on the DT headers and Catback, durability and install ? thinking that might be worth doing - for sure the exhaust, to give it some soul....

Agree its a refreshing change....nice fleet by the way !

E

Have you already ordered the DT headers? I have a new set still in the box in my garage in Tyler TX. I ordered them for my 2001 a couple years ago and never installed.

You will love the 100 series.

True- the DT Headers and Catback do give it a little more oomph, sounds great when accelerating/decelerating, but drones at cruising speed. A resonator may be the cure for that, but I have not gotten around to experimenting with that yet. Durability seems fine, no problems yet. There was apparently a bad initial batch of DT headers years ago, but reports on mud indicated that DT changed the type of stainless and I am not hearing any leakage after 3 years of use. Thanks for the comment on the fleet- I enjoyed Landcruisers when I was young, went away from them for 20 years, and then came back when I stopped deploying/moving so much. Expensive, but cheaper than a gambling addiction :)

Has anyone sourced a set of upgraded cats or replacement y pipe ? it seems like not doing those along with the rest would be leaving a some gains on the table .......

Agree that a rear resonator might be useful to break wave length for the droning.... I had to do that on my A8 just due to the length of the chassis. But I also like a bit more noise then most....
