Some of y'all have seen this on Facebook, but I bought a new to me 40 last week. It's in LA right now ad en route to Sacramento to live there for a bit until I can figure out how to get it to Texas.
So the story is that I saw it here for sale on MUD. Since it's in LA I contacted Rob Tygart (landcrusher909) to get some help. Well, turns out the guy selling it is friends with him and he was with him when he bought the truck 2 years ago. He's also been helping with finding parts and helping with planning the restoration. Well, that was good enough for me to know that this was a good buy.
The truck came out of California, originally bought there, and the PO found it in a barn. It was Rustic Green and since has been somewhat prepped and primed for paint. It's running and came with a bunch parts for the resto. I am quite excited about this one because it seems like there's not that many unmolested 40's out there that aren't stupid pricey.
So here we go with the next project...I'm going to prep, paint, lift a little, power steering, and probably a disc break swap.
I suspect it won't make it to Texas for some time, but I'll update as I go along.
