Not yet a TLCA member, but thinking about joining and I have some questions I was hoping you guys could answer.

Been reading the FLCA section here on the forum, and I see most of you have 40's and I see a few 80's in there, I hope a 1st gen 4Runner owner is welcome to join. I think I saw a 4Runner in one set of pics, so I'm guessing it's open to any Toyota.

I see the trip planned for Sep up to AL, doubtful that I can make that, but can somebody give me a rundown of the usual yearly events you guys do? Is there a usual Spring and Fall gathering in FL somewhere?

To join, do I sign up as an individual with TLCA directly or is there some FL specific person to contact?

The www.flca.org website listed on the TLCA chapter list is some Chinese language site, I guess the domain was taken over or something.

The trip photos from you guys look great, looking for a good group to have some nice family outings with, and one day I'd love to own a 40.

all manner of 4x4s are welcome. we're a little bit rag tag as far as planning goes but we have a fall event in ocala usually and several others throughout the year but nothing really in stone. keep your eye on this section for things coming up.

Easiest thing to do is look for the next get together and show up. I believe the"technical" requirement is a Toyota vehicle with a 2 speed transfer case. I have yet to see anyone turned away. Activity comes and goes, but a good group of folks to wheel/BBQ/etc with.

Welcome to FL.

Thank you for the info Danny.

And thank you Bret...I guess I qualify!

To clarify my post, b/c I don't think my title was clear. I'm not new to FL, just to the TLCA. I've been to Richloam, Ocala, Citrus, Croom, and Corbett, just never with you guys.

Does anyone know if it matters if I join directly thru TLCA website? I don't want to circumvent the FL Chapter.

Wow I didn't know the requirements were so stringent. I was thinking just having an interest in Toyotas would fly. A friend wanted to come out in his 2wd sequoia. Nothing like a nice offroading event to convince him to upgrade to a 4wd. Another friend has a jeep currently, but is deciding between new jeep or new toyota. He should come out to help his decision, right?

My toyota has a non-toyota engine- am I still good?

You don't have to join tlca and at this time Flca is not collecting any dues that I know of...

Anyhow, looking forward to meeting you

Ditto to Austin's post ..........Just come out with what ever you want to wheel . Do to the economy we haven't collected any due or really had much of any type of monthly , bimonthly or what ever meetings . Someone just says lets go here on this date and generally people show up or not . But anyway just wheel what cha bring totally open .

As long as you don't rat me out for my non-Toyota motor your secret is safe with me. :)

The Sequoia would be pulled by a vehicle with a transfer case at some point so it is kinda like a comfortable off road trailer with AC right? I don't think there is anything wrong with Jeeps, sometimes the drivers need adjutments... like blaming a dog for bad behavior, generally it is the human that needs redirection. All in fun, but just show up let the chips fall where they may.
Most everyone is very agreeable.

The above is just in case the original message wasn't dripping with sarcasm and I missed it.

Thanks guys, looking forward to an event that I can make it to. The AL trip looks like so much fun, so tempting, but don't think it's really do-able right now. I'll be here watching and waiting.

I'd spout up and say "Hey, let's all go to Richloam!"

But I just drove by there today. OMG is that place full of water... and after my last little carpet-soaking adventure (not to mention the other things) I'm no so willing to head back out there in 4' of water ;)
