Hi guys,
Sorry I know I'm not a club member, but I thought I'd post in here to ask if anyone could recommend someone in the So. Oregon area who is an expert on older Land Cruisers. I just got my first - a 66 with a lot of missing parts! I've slowly been tracking down the missing pieces here on Mud and on Craigslist, but now I need to find a mechanic that knows how to put it all together :) any help would be appreciated. Thanks for looking!

Welcome

Yes we have some talented mechanics in the club..... but I'm not one of them

Im sure one of them could assist and chime in here ;). If you just need someone to hand you wrenches I can do that!

If u need a "sorta complete" one to look at in order to figure out where stuff goes u can always use mine for a reference. Where abouts are u located? What parts are u assembling?

Aso if u need a frame, front springs, front axle and possibly a rear axle outta a 71 u can have them for free.

Thanks for the quick response guys. Yeah a reference FJ would be great. I bought the rig from a guy who told me I could "come drive it away"...that was three months ago, and it hasn't spent more than a week out of the mechanics shop. lol Unfortunately, his enthusiasm for the truck was unfounded. So far I've replaced the carb, distributor, wiring harness, tires, etc. I'm trying to piece it back together as close to stock as possible but finding parts for this sucker has been challenging. I think it may have gone through a part-out at one point because it's missing almost all the knobs/cables from the dash assembly, and that's what I'm trying to fix now. I found out pretty quickly that if you're not mechanically inclined, you probably shouldn't own an older car :)

Just dont get in a hurry. Get it where you can drive it or you will burn out quick. Specter land cruiser in Calif. will have most of it,but it wont be cheap. MIke

cool...I'll have to let you guys take a look at it to point out all the things on it that're wrong lol I know I've got my work cut out for me

You might check with Gnob here on 'mud for wrenchin' or John Groves for parts in Grants Pass area- 541-479-5500. Tell him Kief sent ya. Pretty reasonable for wrenching too.

Said the spiders to the fly...........We should be near you.....! ;p Sounds like the welcome I received awhile back. You may have just reached a milestone in your life by posting up here. You need to register for Mcgrew and gitterdunn! OK, I'll get back to my own problems now......:bounce:

Oh yes, welcome!

Wondering though, is that a capital G and the nob or lower case g and the nob?:grinpimp:

This is either the greatest day of your life or where it all went wrong... Can we see some pics??? :D

I'm way past the point of no return..lol I never thought of myself as a "car guy" but I'm literally having dreams about this car. It's crazy. I'll post some pics as soon as I get it back from the mechanic
