Hey everyone,

Been shopping around for a new ride and have always been fond of the 60 series.
I'm likely going to be buying one shortly and thought I should make my presence known in here.
I'm from Ontario but posted to Cold Lake.

Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Cheers,
Nick

Out here, they are either really expensive, or really rusty. Good luck in your search!

Oh I know! It's brutal. I'm tempted to get a beater and make her pretty again.
Quite a fair bit of decent parts in car-part.com. As long as the frame is in good shape I might go that route.

There's a guy here on base that has a nice FJ60 for sale, but way out of my price range unfortunately!

Do any of you guys do coffee meets? I have a other groups (Overland Bound) that are interested in doing meets and possibly group camping trips and if anyone else is interested.

Oh a 60 series, I have a weakness for those...

And for 62s, 80s, 81s, 73s, 77s, 75s....

welcome to the addiction

Good luck with the search, what specs and $range are you looking for?

Thanks!
I don't really have much of a budget to work with right now... but as time goes on, I'll still be saving money and looking for a good deal.

I'd like to get a 3B, and preferably the less rust the better (but that can be taken care of). My plan is to use it as an overland vehicle primarily, and the occassional (probably eventually daily lol) drive to work. So I don't care if the interior is beat up, as long as it's functional. I'd prefer auto, but open to manual as well. I (shamefully) cannot drive stick... but will learn!

There's a guy in my area with one, I'll be checking it out mid-March when we're both back in town.

Is there anything in particular I should watch for? I'll be looking for severe rust on the roof, doors, and frame specifically. As well as leaks and gasket issues on the engine.

I don't think you will find an automatic 3B, your best bet would be to try to find an automatic HJ60, if you are looking for beater and cheap, otherwise if you need auto you might have to get one of them fancy right hand drive units from Japan ;)

Yeah, didn't think so. I'm not opposed to the manual trans, just not experienced with it. Guess I can learn :P

If I'm going to import... I'm going to go with a 79 series turbo diesel. Go big or go home haha!

The club meets monthly. Check out the other threads that typically come up - or the website. www.oilcountrycruisers.ca

Thanks Ratpuke!

Unfortunately it's probably going to be some time before I can hop into a cruiser... few more important things coming up shortly that I gotta take care of but I'm still set on finding one!

I'll keep an eye out and if I'm in Edmonton when you fellas are planning a meet, perhaps I'll come out!
