I changed my 33x12.50 Off-Brand MTs for some 33x12.50 BFG ATs and man they're awesome. I just thought people on the fence might want to know if it was worth it, and I emphatically say yes! They drive extremely well and it seems I haven't lost much in traction off-road (haven't really had the opportunity to truly check them out).

AT's are a nice tire if you are spending most of your time on road. I like the MT's if you are spending a lot of time off road. I got 65+,000 miles out of my last set of 33x12.50x15 BFG MT's.

i know this has been asked ...but...how large of tires can you go with a stock 60?

how big can you go...

Two common "bigger" options on stock suspension are 31X10.50 or 33X9.50. Both work on stock 15X6 rims. Not sure if 33X10.50 works on stock suspension, probably it rubs when off-road. 31X10.50 is very common, and you can't go wrong with it. Landpimp has a picture of his fj62 w/33X9.50's and it looks sweet set up that way. Of course, with the 9.50's you've gotta like the "pizza cutter" look.

I have the 31x10.5 on my stock 60. I like the aggresive look it has... nice and wide. Fits the truck well.

How are your 33" tires fitting your rig?

TB

33 on stock

33's fit only if they are skinny - 9.50's. Landpimp says they run great on his 62 (they look great IMHO) and I don't think he's the only guy running them on a stock cruiser.

That sounds interesting to me... the 33x9.5 size. I am in the market for a new set and wouldn't mind trying these. I'd like to see landpimp's pic.

check out his website

Landpimp has a website with pics for his cruisers. You'll find what you need in there.

Here is a pic of my stock 62 with 33x10.5 BFG ATs (thanks Nakman). It was not mine when the pic was taken and never drove it with the 33s so I don't know if they rubbed or not.

Nice looking rig. How does she drive with those tires and 3.73 gears?

I know it has an auto, but still those are tall tires for those gears.

It does look nice. I think I will need to stick with 31's with my stock gears, right?

HZJ60 Guy,
Thanks. That pic is from the previous owner when it had 33s it had 31s when I bought it and it still does. I have no idea how its drives with 33s. FYI - FJ62s have 4.11 diff gears.

They do do they. That is a good thing.

3.73 & 33's

I have 33's on my 60, with the stock diffs. Gearing is great for the freeway, and works great on all but the steepest hills in Seattle. Hill starts on the counterbalence on QueenAnn require more clutch slip than I would like, but I can't pop for the H55 yet. Off-road, I don't do hardcore trails, and I'm fine for what I do for now. Once I get a locker, I'll probably want to do nastier stuff, and the need for lower gears will be more critical. In the meantime, I'm still working on fixing everything that's broken (and I'm close). No point in wheeling if you break on the way to the trail! My motor is strong, so that helps on hills of course. I can drive up Snoqualmie pass at the speedlimit almost all the way. I slip to 55 on the final 2 miles.

LTS, it's going to be interesting to see how my H55 handles those Seattle hills.

I dont think LP has a site per say. If he does he's been keeping it secret and is a wise aker for sure.

rightlane - landpimp has a site, go to members and search for his name...click on his profile and you'll see a link to his site. Enjoy!

hzj60guy - your h55 will handle Seattle hills better than my stock 4 speed for sure!
