Yes I have a lot friends some good ones and some bad ones, and it's not me building the the truck if that's what you're implying...

Right now the toy funds are tight and Alma does not pay much so all projects are on Hold

I know both my big-ass Dodges were made in Mexico. I think the SuperDuty was made in one of them hillbilly states tho ... Kentucky or Tennessee maybe?

and about the Dodges You got it right sir! My Paloma says Hecho en Mexico... The dodge assembly plant it's in the state of Coahuila, Mexico. It's 2 states norhtwest of where we are.... In this state is normal to see the trucks driven on the main highways haulin ass w/ no cab at all...just the chassis and drivetrain all working in harmony. The driver is driving w/ goggles and ski mask sitting in a wooden bench.

First time I saw them I was impressed.... them truck run fast and could not figure out what it was.

All we could see coming toward us was something big and bulky.

So here's an update for all the loyal followers of this here silly project.


As previously reported:

Unfortunately ... few of the items have a friggin' 8-week delivery.

At one point (as quoted below), I naively believed that once I paid a huge amount of money for the parts, then they'd show up in 8 weeks.

Lance done got my check and is orderin' up some parts.

Means Christmas is now 8 weeks away.

Then we learned this:

Evidently some of the parts and pieces can't be ordered up 'till some of the other parts and pieces have done been installed.

But I remained eternally optimistic:

Good news is the project completion's only gonna be delayed a week or so. Still shootin' for July first for this phase of the build.

But alas ... now here's what we got:

There are three pieces that had the original 8-week delivery. Lance has been told that the first of these pieces has a shippin' date from the manufacturer of June 20th. And the other two pieces can't be ordered until this first piece is received AND installed.

And the manufacturer of them other two pieces now says the 8-week delivery is actually a 10-week delivery.

So let's do the math ...

First piece ships on 20 June. Common carrier freight across the country puts it at IronPig say on 27 June. Give Vinny a few days to install it and take a buttload of measurements ... say 02 July.

Order remaining peices with a 10-week delivery. Means shipped 10 September. Again, common carrier freight across the country means delivered 17 September. Give The Boys coupla weeks to put it all together and finish the build ...

Done 01 October.

When's the Redneck Gig at Superlift?? Ain't that in October?

I hated ordering axles for one ton projects. The big three axle manufactures take a ridiculous amount of time to build an axle the say they have dimensions for.

It will be an awesome trick once your done. Can't wait to see it

Aw, come on now - you know we're still waiting on Advance Adapters to supply the tcase. It was expected to come in this week but when I called to get a tracking number this morning they told me it has not shipped yet.

Got in a big fight this morning with AA over this one. They claim backorder on bearings. They say it's an 8 week minimum to ship a tcase and we're welcome to cancel. There are a couple options if you want to cancel the order with AA, but I think after the heated conversation I had with them this morning they'll have it headed our way by the end of the week and I do think it's the best option for your build. Ultimately it's in their hands - I can't install parts I don't have.

Unfortunately to dial in proper caster and driveline angles we have to have the case in the truck... and we need AA to ship it to us before we can put it in.

Ain't heard a thang.

I agree. And here's why ...

Lance talked me into gettin' their 4-speed so I'd have plenty of gearin' options for varied terrain. This is very important since in her final form, this could be the only rig on the planet that'll be heavier than Daryl's Junk.

Seriously though, want the gears to ease over s*** and reduce the chance of breakin' instead of havin' to work hard at it and be bouncin' 5 tons around.

The 4-speed Atlas is a pretty interestin' critter. You got your normal Main Case with a 4.3:1 reduction, shift-on-the-fly capability, and twin-sticked for separate front and rear selectability. Then you got yourself a third lever to engage a Reduction Case with 2.72 gears. So basic'ly it's a doubler transfer case set-up that's all in one unit.

So here's the options:

Main Case ....... Reduction Case ....... Final Ratio

HIGH (1:1) ....... HIGH (1:1) ....... 1:1
HIGH (1:1) ....... LOW (2.72:1) ....... 2.72:1

LOW (4.3:1) ....... HIGH (1:1) ....... 4.3:1
LOW (4.3:1) ....... LOW (2.72:1) ....... 11.7:1

Not sure how useable the LOW-LOW option will be though since it'll prob'ly make the truck pull right through the brakes. :whoops:

Gonna have to have cable shifters on all three levers since they would otherwise pop into the cab under the front seat.

So why all this info ... ???

I drive Lindy's 40 while Doc wasn't looking one time. It was amazing what the low gearing in the 4 speed case let that rig do even with no lockers. Good choice.

Would be good to see the F250 running the trails in Hot Springs. Need to know more info on the gas tank, having the same issues on mine.
