Howdy, I ordered a rear gasket for obvious reasons, a month or so ago from CDan, And I amfinally putting it in (i got away lucky with only surface rust in a few spots)
Just noticed upon install of the new one, that there is two outer "lips" now. I say now cause my old one definitely only had one. There is a deep seam for the pinch weld, and then on the outside of that a second, thicker but not as deep seam....wondering what eveyone thinks the change was for i.e. air space to help the trapped water dry out/drain? i have carefully studied the old one and it was not present and was not nearly as beefy.

cheers

I'd like to see pics.
I'm considering doing the same as mine hasn't rusted yet
and I don't want it to either :D...being in New England...land of salt!

Are you talking about the glass gasket or the door gasket? Interesting in either case...

Now I'm confused. Which is it?

LOL

well, the new gasket prob. just improves sealing. maybe they got complaints of the old ones leaking or it's a generic toyota mold and they use that shape on all the hatches now??
