Had a friend install a new head unit, Alpine CDA-9856. Nothing wrong with the OEM deck, just got an Ipod and didn't like the tape deck adapter. Ipod controls on the Alpine, with their "full speed" cable is awesome. I've got the Ipod in the glove box, the Alpine cable charges it and allows for full browsing through the deck, just like you're using the dial on the Ipod.

And, as a bonus, with the Blaupunkt speakers I did recently, with the new deck the sound is very much improved. And, as a bonus bonus, I get another pocket to stuff crap in. :D

looks good, about to use the same deck but with Eclipse speakers for the front and rear. That is a great setup.

Timely - that's the same deck I'm seriously considering (read - just about made up my mind). Mind if I ask where from? I'm thinking Crutchfield since they throw in the pocket below the deck, wiring harness, instructions and shipping for free.

What are the dimensions of the pocket you got underneath(length, width and depth)? Is it a standard pocket - if you know? I'm wondering if I can stuff the Uniden 520 in the pocket. If not the I'd sell it and get the full size front speaker Cobra for the second bay like others have done here.

Is the wiring for the Ipod separate or included with the deck? Haven't gotten that far yet as I don't own an Ipod - will probably just get a Nano.

My friend that does installs is an Alpine dealer, so just got it from him, but Crutchfield is a great source. The pocket is smaller than DIN, I bet the 520 would fit in there fine. The wiring for the ipod is a separate cable, the big difference with the Alpine is that their cable is ~$30 and only a cable, most others can be close to $100 and have an adapter box in the cable line.

Thanks Cory!

All that for Afterglow?
