So I just got the call from the shipping company that my new Slee rear bumper will be delivered in the AM.

I was thinking about the mounting on the back of the 100 and had a thought. My cruiser came from the good land of Colorado and although not much, there is very slight rust on the underside. When I took off the factory hitch I removed a few of the toughest bolts I have ever had the pleasure of removing.

On to the question; anyone ever used a tap and die set to re-thread (same size) any rusted holes in the frame of their cruiser? I thought this may clean/clear a little rust and make the install a little easier..
Any other tips or tricks to aid in the ease of install??

Thanks in advance

I had open bolt holes a few months ago. I tried threading some bolts in there and no bueno. I went to the store and got some steel brushes. Sprayed some WD-40 in there and cleaned out the threads. Bingo. I would try PB plaster and a wire brush if it's bad.

You can buy and use "thread chasers" as well which remove little to no metal, a tap will usually cut some metal. I just use dull/crappy taps as chasers myself.

Anti-seize or weak threadlocker on installation will prevent future corrosion.

I wish I had a Colorado truck, I'm in Colorado with a Truck originally sold in Detroit! Some fasteners have been a bitch...

Awesome, thanks so much for the reply's guys. Sounds like the "chasers" may be the ticket.

Christo thanks so much for all the help on the phone over the last week or two. I can't tell you how excited I am for the truck to arrive in the morning.
