So what do they consider a motorhome? i.e. is a slide-in camper like I've talked to you about a 'motorhome?'

Looks like that shoots the heck out of buying a trailer and parking it in Mexico. This seems to read that you must tow out the trailer you came in with.
So what happens if a person left their trailer in Mexico before the new rules? Can someone tow it back to the US?
I read it as
Permits are not need for trailer
Permits are needed for Motorhomes-
- Valid for 10 years
- Good for multiple entry
- $52 USD
I see this part as the gray area. Typical for Mexican laws
-There are weight restrictions for vehicles that are NOT motorhomes getting vehicle TIPs for mainland. The GVWR cannot be more than 7,716 pounds (3.5 tons) if the vehicle is not a motorhome. Baja Sur will NOT issue TIPs for non-motorhome vehicles over that weight. There’s a possibility that they may issue the vehicle TIP along the California/Baja California border, but it depends on customs clearing the vehicle. Getting a TIP at the California/Baja California border does not guarantee that if you are exiting Mexico and entering again, they will reissue a TIP if your vehicle is overweight.
A little more info/explanation here, but looks like some potential trouble for larger vehicles as you state.
Mexico RV Info
The more they restrict motorhome and trailer travel the less traffic with less crowded RV parks. Today the limited amount of on the water RV parks are few and only getting less with the growth of hi-rise condos. Im OK with it as long as my park stay open as our trailer will never leave Mexico.
I was wondering how a motor home pulls a 5th wheel. If this is only motorhomes then @oilbrnr should have no problem.

Yeah, and the MH will soon be up for sale... I think it is something that Phil needs.
Here is the strange part to me; The GVWR cannot be more than 7,716 pounds (3.5 tons) if the vehicle is not a motorhome
Well I'm at a GVWR of 8,510 lbs with the Wagon.
We recently attempted to take three 3/4 ton four door pickup trucks from our smelter in Arizona to our smelter in Mexico (like we have been doing since 1999). We found out the rules had changed two weeks prior and we could not take them across the border due to their weight - even though they were company trucks and technically belong to one of the largest corporations in Mexico. We had to wait at the border for some vans to take us down south.Yeah, and the MH will soon be up for sale... I think it is something that Phil needs.

Yes, mainland. We frequently go to our smelter near Nacozari.+Step, is this mainland MX?
