New remote from Cdan, no workie?

Question,

I just got a LX450 with no remote, but 5 keys. Did all these cars have remotes when they were built?
Can I buy a remote and program it to my car?
How can I check if my car ever had a remote?

look for a switch-blank labelled security. it should be next to the hazard switch in the console. If there is a microphone in the thing, you likely have the RS3000/RS3200 security system. Sometimes there's a decal on the front door windows as well.

I'd imagine that all Lexus LX450 should have the factory alarm, but I could be wrong.

On my car, a Toyota RS3000 remote programmed in very nicely. Then I had the whole system removed and had a modern remote-starter equipped alarm system installed.

All LX450 had keyless entry and most Land Cruisers.

I found a black box under the driver seat, that has a small green button on the side of it. Is that the module for the remotes?

For $60.00 it is worth a try to get a remote.

Yes, that's where Yota hides the remote unit.

You can ebay a remote cheaper. Also, if you just want to test it, find a local mudder and try his remote first; that what I did. I finally figured out that my black box was bad. I found a replacement in a junk yard for $10.

Just received my Ebay remote and had it programmed in less than 2 minutes! Awesome....
Now I dont have to leave the car unlocked anymore from walking away without locking it
