Well I wrote on this forum a feew weeks agout about the cloum shifter and the 2 pigs i was looking at...well I got one home todayand started digging into her. She is a 74 Fj55 pretty stock...VIN # FJ55037282..if anyone has the decoder I would love to know wha that all means.

Got her runnign by pouring gass in the carb and the fuel pump is opperating normaly but wont runn by itself...I thing it is something with the carb but of course nobodey around my parts has a rebuild kit for the F engine...also there are 2 different kits in the catalog and not sure wich one I need..cant find any numbers on the carb so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only other big problem is the brakes. You have to pump them continuosly to get em to work. I installed a new master cylender and bled the system but still very spongey. Could my booster be bad??? any way to check??? and where can I find one of them????

Like I said any help would be very apprecaited and used....need to get it running by next weekend so I can get it out of the driveway..

Here are some pics..she is a little rusty but will make a good trail truck someday....The one i left behind is in way better shape and will get a newer motor before it becomes my DD..oh i am SOOOOOOOO happy to have a pig again...

Thanks all

ha man go to your local napa its been about 3 years since i bought a rebuild kit for a f carb just tell them the year of your rig your float is prob. stuck or a jet stuffed also now for a f card rebuilt they are easy you can do what i call a dry carb overhaul i 30 minutes ive done quite a few of them hell do it on the fender:) just kidding stock f carbs also came with 2 spare jets i would need a picture i cant remember were exactly were they were screwed in at but biggest thing to getting one running .gasket the top one getting your float about level i always went slighty under half cleaning those jets and that dam acc. pump boot on top .when it goes it causes all hell to break out always carry a spare. your float site glass when its running proper will show half and there is even a little dot on the sight glass as far as buying a new carb dont its not worth it you will still half to adjust them and the whole 9 yards when they are new so just give it a try and do it yourself if ya need any help just give me a holler and ya one more thing dont turn the carb upside down

Theres always rebuild kits on ebay or you could send it off and have it rebuilt that will take a few weeks though. If your carb is a stock Aisin it will have a 3 digit 2 #'s 1 letter code on the top. Something like 4 A 5 and that would translate to the fourth day of jan 75, (Ialways get this confused it could be the 5 day of jan 74 someone will correct me if I'm wrong). That will tell you which kit you need though. I think there are actually about 8 or 10 different one when you count the cali carbs 1 bbls and all that.
As for your brakes it probably is your booster. Mine has to be pumped twice to build pressure it then slowly bleeds back out. I've read that the seals inside yota boosters are crap and start to do that after a little while. A new booster can come from any of the many vendors but it will be pricey.
You said nobody has parts where your at but youll be surprised. Where are you from?

ok man i called advance just for reference there 20 bucks. if ya get hard up and need help i will do it for ya just pay shipping i can do it in now time dont pay the hundreds of dollars for a new one its not worth it . just keep in mind i would do it as long as it was off the car sitting for a long period of time in the weather then its just to much of a risk but i sent you a phone # to call me if ya need it:cool:

Well thanks for all the great info. I ordered the Carb rebuild kit and should have it to put in this weekend. Just think one more pig will be roming the open roads soon.

And once again thanks for all the great help. I am sure i will have more questions as time goes by so expect to see me around.

Thanks
Kevin

Hope the rebuild kit works for you, it didnt for me. I eventually sent mine to Marks Offroad.
