Read in Truck Trend that the new QX56 will be the new Petrol that is sold worldwide. It is a challenger to the LC/LX worldwide and is priced around $10K less then the new LC. This should be interesting to see and hope it drives down the price on the LC.

All-new Infiniti QX56 Gets New Look, New Platform, More Power
March, 2010 issue of Truck Trend
By Allyson Harwood

Thank goodness for Infiniti! During what promises to be a two-day blur of long speeches, Infiniti kept its press conference wonderfully short. This meant we could actually take a look at the vehicle during Infiniti’s allotted time, as opposed to being forced to make a run for it to make it to the next conference.

Infiniti’s conference was short despite having a lot to talk about with the new QX56. The 2011 model marks the first significant change to the SUV since it first came out. It’s offered in 2WD or 4WD, riding on a new, but still body-on-frame platform -- now shared with the world-market Nissan Patrol and now built in Japan as opposed to Canton, Mississippi. The QX has been redesigned, and is 1.4 inches longer, 1.1 inches wider, and 3.8 inches lower than before. It is also available with nine-spoke 22-inch wheels, and no shortage of chrome. Inside, seven- or eight-passenger seating is available, plus all the luxury features that Infiniti is known for: nav, Bluetooth, optional dual seven-inch screens in the second row, and more.

Its direct-injection 5.6-liter V-8 is has more power than in the previous-gen, with 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, increases of 77 and 20, respectively, and is said to be more fuel efficient as well. A new seven-speed automatic replaces the five-speed auto offered with the previous QX. Towing capacity is now 8500 pounds across the line (it was 9000 pounds in the 2WD 2010 model and 8600 pounds with the 4WD). The new QX goes on sale this summer -- with no increase in price over the 2010 model.

Interesting to see that the Nissan V8 has (slightly) more power than the Toyota 5.7. I wonder if it will show up in the new Titan? This new QX is fugly IMO, but I've never liked Infiniti's styling department.

I'd still spend the extra for the LC. :meh:

Personally, I wouldn't be caught dead in one of these things. In my opinion, not only does it look uber-ugly but I'm feeling a major soccer mom vibe from it. Definitely not my cup of tea.

WOW, the 200 series LC is not a good looking truck, not saying that this new Q is that great but the last thing we should be talkin about is looks. JMHO. I would like to compare frame size, build quality and performance of these two SUV.

The new Infiniti and Patrol bend the LandCruiser over their knees and spank it with a horse whip when it comes to interior fit, finish and quality. Sorry, Nissan won this category already with this new platform.

How can compare a Datsun to Toyota???;p

The interior of the Infiniti should be compared to the LX570, not the LC. Infiniti is after the luxury market.

Also JW, how do you know the interior is so much better, the 2011 QX isnt even out yet?

This does show a positive change in the market though......now there will be three offroad capable, large (and expensive) SUVs in the U.S market.

This should be interesting to see and hope it drives down the price on the LC.
I think the price thing is wishful thinking

The NISSAN Patrol has already been shown a while ago and it has a way better looking and richer quality interior than the 200.

Your going to tell me that the LC200's interior is better than this?

I didn't know that it was out to be seen/sat it.

I wont pass judgement on quality till i actually see/touch one in person. As for the looks of the interior, it does appear to be nicer......similar to some Lexus sedans.

That said........in the middle of nowhere Id rather be in a Toyota Land Cruiser, not Nissan (Datsun) Patrol, regardless of whether the interior is nicer or not....JMHO

Yeah, but still, Toyota cheapened out big time, not to mention, they cranked the price on the 200s too. The interior of the 200 is even trumped by its predecessor. Not a smart move on Toyota's iconic vehicle.

You can't tell me this 100 series interior isn't breath taking

i don't see how the 100 interior is so much better than the 200, though i've heard people say this.

i have the same steering wheel controls on my '05 tundra and find the LC to be easier to manipulate. also, the recessed instrument cluster and the larger door handles were nice touches. the 100 had swing down arm rests, but i don't even use the ones in my tundra.

otherwise, i don't see much difference.

I like the interior of the 200...

It's the perfect combo of fit, function, comfort, offroad support, on road support, performance and luxury...

If your like me and your around LandCruisers every day and everyone in your family owns one, you'll know the big difference. The 200 parked side by side with a 100 shows how cheap the interior is. Even a blind person will feel the cheapness of the plastic hollow dashboard of the 200 vs the vinyl wrapped and padded dashboard of the 100. It's not just my opinion, but its fact. I understand that automakers will cut down the quality of certain parts of a vehicle to make up costs for new options and acessories, but the LandCruiser 200 has a cheaper build quality and material choice on the inside and is pricier than the 100. I call it, fast cash cow. ;)

Any insight on how the LX470 and LX570 compare?

Yeah, pretty much every manufacturer does this until customers and product reviewers start to object. Few manufactures are immune to cost cutting. Every couple of product life cycles things turn around; the QX is a good example of this. The current QX should be an embarrassment to Infiniti because the interior fit and finish and materials used are horrible. From the pictures, the new one is a vast improvement.

While the 200 may be worse then the 100, it's still above and beyond anything Toyota has in their current line up. Take a look at the Camry and Sequoia and you'll see cost cutting galore.

I spent part of the easter weekend with family, and my aunt and uncle have an LX470. I'm not sure what year it is, but when I compared their LX470 to my LX570, I felt like my interior was a definite upgrade over the older generation.

I'd also rate the interior of the LX570 as better than the interior in a Mercedes GL450 or Audi Q7, but that's just my opinion. For the record though, none of these interiors seemed to have been cheapened and all felt and looked well made.

Can't say I can compare the LX570 to anything Infiniti offers though, because I've never driven or ridden in one.

The LX570 interior is absolutely oozing with quality and luxury. It is without a doubt better than the interior on the LX470.

Personally, its the nicest vehicle interior I have been in.....both for quality and layout.

You need to sit in a Bentley GT :)

Sorry, but personally I think Bentleys, Rolls, and Maybach, represent some of the most pointless vehicles around. I dont see alot of engineering effort in them, just alot of outrageously excessive use of expensive materials and waste. I like cars that make me think the engineers were trying to accomplish something useful with there vehicle, whether its speed/handling, reliability, efficiency, capability or whatever. If your going to charge $250k+ for a car it needs to do something other than have a nice interior and show what kind of a rich prick you are:D

On Topic:
I think part of the reason the 200 LC interior might seem to not be as nice is due to the increasing popularity of the LX. With exception of the markets that buy the LC for what it is actually designed for, the LX is the more popular vehicle. In the US, so far the LX has outsold the LC for the 200 series, and I believe the same might have held true for the 100 as well.

Most people who are that bothered by the interior of the LC, will just get the LX.

Im a person that looks at cheap, quality, and luxury independently of each other. The LC 200 interior in my opinion is a nice interior in the sense that the materials are good quality and it well constructed. The LX has an equally good build quality, but much nicer materials. I think that most american cars have "luxury" interiors but the fit and finish is not the same as the "cheaper" LC 200 interior.........if that makes any sense to yall

I do like my CLS63 AMG with the performance package more then the Bentley GT. It is a awesome performance machine. The 500+ HP V8 in the 6.2 liter normally asperated engine sounds like a NASCAR when you get on it. The interior is all function, yes it is quality but not over the top like the Bentley GT. I debadged mine to make it more of a sleeper. I love to have the ricer guys race up to me and then dust them off :). My LX470 is a 2004 but looks and performs like a new SUV, real quality in build and materials. It will be replaced someday by another LC/LX.
