So after about three years of collecting parts and tires, I have finally installed my new tires and rims.

You may have seen the original state of the split rims in my home sand blasting thread.

I got the the tires from John at Profitts through his add in the 100 forum, and the rims from my neighbour who briefly had a 45 with a set of extra rims.

The truck came with the wagon wheels with 245/75's when I bought it. I put the 285/75's on it after a year or two of owning it.

Here's the before. No comments on the body, I'm working on that even as we speak.

The new tires are 7.50 - 16.

Here they are compared to the 285/75's.

Here they are installed.

I put 32 lbs in them and took for a spin around the neighbourhood. Man, it's like I have power steering now. I'll be going to our club meeting tomorrow and that includes a few miles on the freeway. I expect it to handle and track much better. With the big tires on it, it wandered a lot and it took a fair amount of concentration to keep it going in a straight line.

love the splits and the tires - I missed out by a day on the last set of those tires. Really wanted to keep in the same size as original - 235-85 is close.

Personally I like the look of your 45 - looks loved.

Oh yeah, it's loved alright. It'll get loved even more this weekend.

I have new/reconditioned doors and fenders for it, waiting for a coat of dune beige. I will be taking the aprons, bib and hood of for paint at the same time, and will start working on the rest of the cab this summer.

The box will also get a going over, although probably not this summer.

Because I wheel it, and sometimes hard, I don't want to put too much effort into the body work. But it will look nice with new paint.

congrats Kevin
glad you are still looking after the old girl especially with all the abuse you have put her through...

That's a case of "less is more" if I ever saw one. Big tires are cool but I like skinnys myself.

Dont take this wrong....But I would spend the money trying to save the truck...rims and tires come along every day 45s dont

No offense taken.

Because I wheel it I don't want to do a body-off restoration, or buy a new cab and box. I have newish doors and fenders to put on this summer, and with my sandblaster and welder I will tackle thhe cab and the box. It won't be a show truck, but it will look very presentable when I am done with it.

Some day I may buy another rig, maybe a bj60, and then do a good restoration of the 45.

Nice! What brand tires are those? Are they radials?

Are these new tires? Because I can't find any bridgestones like that here in Japan.

those look like the 'sand' tires ENS was getting for a while on the mine trucks.

They are the original tires for the Middle Eastern 79's. 'Sand' tires would be appropriate.

Glad you like them Kevin. They look really good on your 45.
