After searching the boards for a new muffler I have decided on the Magnaflow for the replacement of the rusted through OEM. I was hoping somebody could recommend the correct one for the truck. I am looking for a relatively stock sounding one. Thanks

You can buy the OEM muffler I just cut off my truck:)

I can get up under it this weekend and measure my magnaflow for you.

Wouldn't warranty pay for a replacement OEM? Lifetime warranty on the exhaust! Toyota paid for one a few years back on my 1985 Corolla... It was only like 20 years old or something at the time, lol!

Yes but toyota wont let you have the true V8 sound:D

Seriously? Thats pretty dope if it's true...

Yes it is true, at least here in Canada... I've done it a few times on my other Toyotas as well...

I thought the warranties were the same cross border.

Skidoo - any additional info on the magna flow that you are runing? There are many different sizes and diameters available. I want to select one that will be a simple install for the local muffler shop as well as one that takes up the same or less amount of space as the stock muffler.

I have a few holes in my stock muffler so it is time to swap it out. Thanks

Is there any one that can confirm if this is true for us in the US? I want to hear that V8 a little more too. But, I know I am going to eventually need everything from the headers back replaced due to rust. If I can get it done through Toyota at no cost to me.... well then... you know....

So, it sounds like a lifetime guarantee on the replacement muffler... but not original muffler?

Is this true? What are signs the muffler needs replaced, other than the typical Midas symptoms?

Am i getting this right? On the magnaflow website, there is no choice for landcruiser. In this case, is a universal muffler selected with the proper in/out design?

...and there's the blow. How many of us are the original owners? Thanks for looking that up though, at least now we have a confirmation. :)

What are the "typical Midas symptoms"?

My guess would be when the muffler is no longer muffling, it's time for a new one. Be it from corrosion or cracked piping, etc.

Looks that way, at least for mufflers. They do have Landcrusier specific catalytic converters.

I just got a Magnaflow on mine a couple weeks ago. It is an 18". IIRC, the "input" is centered while the output is offset on the "port" side (don't hold me to this...I know one side is centered & the other is offset). I also got the resonator removed with tubing put in its place. I kept the resonator just in case it was too loud. It's now sitting on a shelf in my garage.

The first day, it was louder than I'd like. Within a day, it quieted down and now....I wouldn't have it any other way. It has a deep, mellow tone that's not obnoxious at all, but everyone knows you have a V8. :D

A stock (I've asked) Audi X7 passed my house (got on it up a hill) yesterday. It sounded AWESOME... like 1 part BMW M3; 2 parts Corvette. My 2006 100 sounds like 1 part Camry and 2 parts Sienna. I get that it's a grownup's luxury SUV... but I'd like to hear just a smidge of rumble at WOT. Anyone found a muffler / tailpipe combo that opens it up a bit but still keeps it in the grownup camp? I have heard that the tailpipe is as much a part of the sound - or at least the tone of an exhaust. I swapped the last 3' of my tail pipe on my FJ Cruiser for AllPro's High-Clearance tailpipe. It gave the truck a noticeably deeper sound.
